Toronto – Ethiopia’s federal government has reportedly launched another round of attacks in Tigray targeting Tigray Defense Force (TDF) positions.
According to Zara Media, a media outlet closely aligned with the TPLF based in the United States, it happened during the morning hours on Monday in the Shererina locality of the Tigray region. The attack is said to have been off target, as only one TDF soldier was reported killed.
This is the second drone attack in the region in less than three days.
On Saturday, a TDF position in Sheraro district, about six kilometers from the Eritrean border, was attacked. Gemehalo was the specific location targeted.
Zara Media, a pro-TPLF media outlet, also alleges that the drone attack that struck Sheraro on Saturday originated from Sudan’s Blue Nile Region, linking it to areas where the Rapid Support Forces operate.
The number of casualties from Saturday’s strike remains unspecified, although the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) has stated that it was severe. The organization did not disclose figures.
Colonel Fesseha Berhe, who has served with the TPLF in the past and is believed to have information about the incident, said during his appearance on Ethiopian Media Service (EMS) on Monday that the number of casualties is serious but cannot be released for military reasons.
The Ethiopian Defense Force has not commented on the strike yet. It maintains restrictions on access to information through what critics describe as an unwritten policy affecting media outlets other than those aligned with or funded by the ruling Prosperity Party government.
Some sources from the region report that five TDF trucks were destroyed in the strike, and a few more trucks carrying firearms, including ammunition for artillery, were also destroyed.
Days before the drone strike, the TPLF openly stated that a devastating war is coming that would impact the entire region.

Tigray forces are ready and waiting only for green light to start their blitz military operation in Ethiopia. The final goal of ousting of Abiy Ahmed will be done in a short period of time and Tigray forces will only withdraw after dismantling the regimes structure in Ethiopia. Abiy Ahmed has a standby escape helicopter or plane and the rest of his officials can be captured by the TDF. TDF in Finfine will be welcome as liberators from the brutal rule of Abiy Ahmed.
Folks, we have two new entrants in our beauty contest. This time it is Debre and Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. Didn’t Burhan allege drones fired from within the Ethiopian territory had hit the area under his control? Now Debre accusing whoever it was for hitting his camp with a drone fired from within the Sudanese territory. My longtime Al-Toweel Isu is breathing a sigh of relief for not being blamed for it. He might have popped a champagne for that. Don’t forget the regime in Addis/Finfinnee was the first one to enter this particular pageant when it accused Burhan hiring and training Debre’s ragtags. This is going to be a nightmare for historians in figuring who is who and who was where.
Btw, my longtime homie Al-Toweel Isu just shot me an email to tell me that he is in Al-Qahirah to shine the boots of his Ol’ Cap’n Cotchipee el-Sisi and this is was a total success that when he was done it was like a mirror.
Make that in the last sentence:
..this time it was a total success that when he was done it was like a mirror.
