Toronto – Amhara Fano National Force (AFNF) says over 100 government soldiers are killed or wounded in Gondar on Wednesday.
It was Belay Zeleke Command of the North Amhara zone that was reportedly undertaking the operation in the West Gondar zone of the Amhara region.
Gondar Teklay Gizat Fano forces, which is under the Amhara Fano Popular Organization, coordinated with Delego Quara Omedla division of the Belay Zeleke command to undertake the operation.
Government forces are said to have suffered a significant loss in the Delego battle. The battle was all day long, Fano Forces reported.
Over 60 government soldiers reportedly killed and over 48 wounded in the operation. However, the casualties on the part of Fano forces are unspecified.
The government on its part deployed joint forces – from the defense force, anti-riot police and militia forces. The Western Command of the Defense Force regiment was in the battle.
Sources say the government forces had the plan to siege the Fano forces but the later reportedly received information about it.
The remaining joint government forces are said to be under siege.
The Defense Force has not remarked about it at the time of this writing.
Fano is also claiming victory in Shahura town where the government deployed a massive force. Adwa division of Belay Zeleke Command in the North zone was engaged in this battle.
Earlier this week, the forces in the Gojjam area of the region claimed victory at Durbete.
The Ethiopian government has been making repeated claims that it has weakened the rebel forces and that the operation is near completion.
Reality on the ground seems to tell a different story. The war is still raging with no end in sight. And the devastation from war in the region impacted millions. Still over four million students are out of school. Worse, the number of civilian causality from this conflict is spiraling up.
Both the government and Fano forces have been also sharing stories of newly trained forces in recent weeks.

Here we go with the number game over there. Be prepared to come up with a total killed, wounded and captured by the government forces and the armed groups that will dwarf the entire population of that country, even double of that. I’m just warning you.
