Toronto – Fano forces allege that the Ethiopian Defense Force killed civilians in a drone attack.
“The fascist force dropped a drone attack near Adet Robe Gebeya locality and it disclosed that five civilian farmers were killed,” the Amhara Fano National Force (AFNF) division operating in the Gojjam area reported.
According to sources with links to Fano rebels, the incident occurred on Monday around 12 P.M. local time.
There were also children and women hurt during the drone strike.
The Ethiopian Defense did not deny or confirm the story. Despite hundreds of drone strikes targeting civilians over the past two years in the Amhara region (and some of them were verified by reputable human rights organizations), the Ethiopian Defense Force has been denying that it does not target civilians in its drone operations.
From the records in the past to years the drone strikes most of the time occur following serious military losses on the part of government forces.
Over the past three weeks, the Ethiopian Defense Force has carried out at least three drone strikes in the region. One of them targeted a health center in Gubalafto Woreda, Sanka district, near Woldia days after the defense force suffered a devastating military defeat.
Four patients were killed in the attack and one of the victims was a pregnant woman. The Ethiopian Human Rights Council ( EHRCO) has confirmed the story. In a statement it released last week, it called on parties to the conflict to declare unconditional ceasefire and resort to “discussion” to resolve their differences.
Activists and state actors (including the United States of America, through its embassy in Addis Ababa) have been advising that the conflict in the Amhara region of Ethiopia can not be resolved through military means.
