Toronto – The Eritrean government has reportedly called on military reserves and veterans to report for training as tensions with Ethiopia continue to escalate. According to sources, all Eritreans under the age of 60 who have previously served in the military are required to report to training centers. Eritrea, with a population of under 4 million, is taking these measures amid growing concerns of a potential conflict.
BBC Amharic has confirmed the mobilization efforts, citing interviews with Eritreans both inside and outside the country. Additionally, the Eritrean government has imposed travel restrictions, prohibiting citizens under the age of 50 from leaving the country without authorization from relevant authorities.
Residents of Asmara have reportedly been informed of the new regulations. Those visiting local Kebeles to access government services, including travel permits, were briefed on the updated requirements.
An Eritrean currently living in Europe, who spoke to BBC Amharic on condition of anonymity, shared that her parents required exit visas to visit her. While her mother was granted a visa, her father was denied—likely due to the new restrictions.
The mobilization efforts appear to be extensive. Married individuals with children, as well as those who previously evaded compulsory national service, are being called to report to their units. Authorities have assured that those who return will not face penalties. Additionally, prisoners who served in the military and are not convicted of serious crimes are being released to rejoin the armed forces.
Women, who often travel to Turkey and the United Arab Emirates to import goods for small businesses, are also affected by the travel restrictions. There are indications that women may soon be required to report to military training centers as well.
The escalating tensions between Eritrea and Ethiopia have raised concerns about the possibility of armed conflict. Earlier this week, the Eritrean government accused Ethiopia of “warmongering” following an op-ed by former Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome published on Al Jazeera. In the article, Mulatu alleged that Eritrea is collaborating with a faction of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) to destabilize Ethiopia.
While rumors circulated about the Eritrean government closing its embassy in Addis Ababa, officials have denied these claims. Nevertheless, the relationship between the two nations remains strained, with many fearing that the situation could deteriorate further.

Ethiopia, you’re toast! You’re kaput, done, gone, arrivederci, goodbye!!! What language you don’t understand? Your real boss will be in town in a jiffy. You better hand over the keys to the GERD Dam now. You better concede all exports of coffee, precious minerals, oil seeds, animal hides and phosphate to the Abruzzis in Piccola Roma which will make it easier for you to pay off your debt of 250 billion in US dollars you owe them for invading their country in 1941 at Keren and in 1952 and 1962 in Asmara. Boy, everybody hates Ethiopia. I’m gonna write a script by that name for a TV show.
Aba Farda, what you basically don’t know is that you are hopelessly sick.
Eritrea’s Referendum [1952]: The UN held it and ‘Eritreans’ overwhelmingly voted to reunite with Ethiopia. Why didn’t the UN ask Ethiopians if they wanted Eritrea back?
Aseb Port: Aseb had been the capital of Ethiopia’s Affars till 1991. The “Eritrean Affars” & “Ethiopian Affars” was made-up by Egypt’s Anti-Ethiopia Contractors [EPLF/TPLF].
Bleeding Ethiopia: EPLF is Egypt’s Major Contractor hired to Bleed Ethiopia. Its leaders will be ‘Laid Off’ if they blink in staging violence to keep Ethiopia mired in war/poverty.
Protect Ethiopians: Egypt’s Rabid Dogs [EPLF/TPLF/OLF-IFLO/Fake Fanno/etc.] must be kept at bay [with massive kamikaze drones] to save Ethiopian lives from such savages.
War Crimes: Using schools/churches/mosques/monasteries/etc. as armed insurgency base; using civilians as human shields; sexual violence; ethnic cleansing; forced displacement; etc.
Addendum:
Aseb: Here is the History & Geography that Ethiopia’s New Generation MUST know:
