Eritrea accuses Ethiopia of war mongering

Toronto – Eritrea is reportedly closing down its embassy in Addis Ababa as tensions between the two countries worsen.
According to sources, the embassy is sending its staff members home. Meseret Media cited what it called an embassy source to report that only Eritrea’s representative to the African Union will remain operational. The closure is reportedly happening swiftly.
At the time of this writing, Eritrea’s Ministry of Information has neither confirmed nor denied the closure. Similarly, Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not released any statement regarding the matter.
Ethiopia maintains an embassy in Asmara, but currently, no ambassador has been assigned to the diplomatic mission, the source added.
On Thursday, Eritrea’s Minister of Information, Yemane Gebreab, released a statement accusing Abiy Ahmed’s government of “externalizing its internal problems” and “warmongering.”
The statement came in response to an op-ed article published by former Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome on Al Jazeera, in which he accused Eritrea of collaborating with a faction of the TPLF group to wage war against Ethiopia. He also alleged that Eritrea is “making war a business.” Dr. Mulatu Teshome’s views were widely interpreted as reflecting the stance of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s administration.
In a related development, reports are emerging on social media that Eritrea has ordered nationwide mobilization. If the information circulating online is accurate, all men up to 60 years of age are required to be prepared in anticipation of a potential conflict with Abiy Ahmed’s administration.
Eritrea and Ethiopia ended two decades of a “no-peace-no-war” stalemate in 2018 after the now-defunct Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) selected Abiy Ahmed as Prime Minister, succeeding Hailemariam Desalegn, who resigned in February 2018 following nationwide anti-government protests. Abiy Ahmed was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for ending hostilities with Eritrea.
Relations between the two nations remained warm for approximately four years after that. Ethiopian Airlines resumed flights to Asmara, operating up to 14 times a week. Telephone lines were reconnected, and separated families were reuniting. However, following new tensions, Ethiopian Airlines flights have since been suspended, and phone lines are once again disconnected.
The current fallout and deteriorating relations are said to be linked to the Pretoria Agreement, which ended the two-year bloody war between the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF)-led Tigray regional state and the Abiy Ahmed-led federal government in November 2022. However, Eritrea denies that its tensions with Ethiopia have any connection to the Pretoria Agreement.
Abiy Ahmed’s government has accused Eritrea of arming Fano forces and, more recently, of conspiring with the Debretsion-led faction of the TPLF to wage war against Ethiopia. Last week, Abiy Ahmed met with his military generals and reportedly instructed them “to be ready,” though no further details were provided.
Abiy’s government is also supporting Eritrean opposition groups, which refer to themselves as Brigade Nhamedu. There are growing fears that the two countries could soon go to war. However, some pro-government Eritrean activists believe that Abiy Ahmed lacks the military strength to engage in a conflict with Eritrea.

With the two largest regions of Ethiopia, the Amhara and Oromia region, a total mess and wreaked with anarchy, and if a war breaks out, Eritrea will lick the daylight out of the old country. Its soldiers will be welcome by the so-called rebels in both Oromia and Amhara regions. Then what? The looting will be on in ways unseen before. All what Al-Toweels’s soldiers need is a loyal and reliable beasts of burden and they will find that in the ‘rebels’ of those two regions. I mean, it is going to a complete rout. It will be like the 1939 Polish army against Hitler’s Panther elite army. That sounds good news, right, you bigots and connivers in Minnesota, Toronto, LA, Oslo and Down Under? I highly suggest you start packing up now. Ethiopia that you hate most with passion will be history soon.
There are many in Ethiopia who would welcome Eritrean army intervention to get rid of the government Abiy Ahmed. The Eritrean forces will easily sweep through and reach Finfine to depose Abiy Ahmed. Abiy Ahmed` stupidity has beenl all clear but his provocation of the regional powers Tigray and Eritrea is dangerous to his power. The Biden administration which saved him through the Pretoria agreement is not in power. The Trump administration will not come to the rescue of Abiy Ahmed.
Talking about reparations, Eritrea is right in its demand that Ethiopia should be ordered to pay minimum of 250 billion in US dollars for invading Eritrea in 1952 at Keren in which 6 million innocent citizens were killed and property worth 185 billion in US dollars was destroyed and also in 1952 and 1962 where 2 million citizens were killed along with property worth more than 75 bilion in US dollars was destroyed. Reparation to Eritrea by Ethiopia for all of that is overdue. Hey Ethiopia! You should cough that up now. Otherwise, your ass will be grass soon!!!
Although most Ethiopians don’t have much love for the PP, they do not also harbour an iota of love for ER or tplf. People would rather die for Abiy than welcome eritrean forces on Ethiopian soil again! Let this be clear to the miscalculating adventurists! Don;t mess with the Ethiopian State again.
