Toronto – Supporters of Fano forces are in celebratory mood as two major Fano rivalry groups operating in Gondar area of Amhara region made peace, leaving their animosity behind.

One of the groups is under Amhara Fano National Force (AFNA) while the other is under Amhara Fano Popular Organizations (AFPO). Both umbrella organizations have forces operating across the Amhara region.

There were times when disagreement between the two forces led to skirmishes.

Yohannes Nigussu, Public relation of AFNF North Amhara Zone Belay Zeleke Command, told Anchor Media that 13 executives from this command and 9 leaders from AFPO reached agreement to end hostility after holding a discussion.

He added that leaders from other Fano commands who did not make it to the discussion have endorsed the meeting and its outcome.

The story is trending on social media. Leaders of Fano Commands have been sharing congratulatory messages signaling that the milestone that the Fano forces in Gondar reached could lead to something bigger.

Apart from resolving their conflict, it is confirmed that they are exploring the idea of forming a single command structure in Gondar, Amhara region of Ethiopia.

It has been in the news for a few weeks now that leadership of the two major Fano organizations are holding discussions with the aim to form a single Amhara Fano Organization under a single command structure.

Notably, the Fano groups have been under pressure from their supporters to resolve their differences and unite under a single command structure.

Fano forces have been battling the Federal and Amhara region government forces for more than two years now.

  1. 1). Amaras & Ethiopia: Let’s rig Ethiopia’s population in Amaras’ favor to 30 million. Keep those in Oromiya at 15 mill [ youtu.be/IXBVqbOe9uY?t=2320 ]. Addis is ≈70% Amara [≈5 mill.]. ‘Forget’ those in other states! So, ≈ 10 mill live in Amara Zone [AZ].

(i). AZ leaders are Amaras elected by Amaras under on-site scrutiny by AU/UN/EU/US. So, what makes Self-Appointed ‘Amara Fannos’ more concerned for Amaras than those elected by the Amaras themselves? Isn’t that like being More Catholic than the Pope?
(ii). More Amaras live in Oromiya than in AZ. [Compare: I met no Oromo in G & G]. So, ≥15 million Amaras reap social benefits in Oromiya: Education/Health Care/Jobs/etc.
(iii). Did Oromos invite Amaras to live in Oromiya? Did any Oromo prevent any Amara from leaving Oromiya? Weren’t Amaras free to leave if their existence were threatened?
(iv). The Amaras displaced from Wollega by OLF-IFLO and fled to AZ refused Dr. Yilikal’s offer to resettle in AZ. They insisted on going back to Wollega when it is safe.

    2). Gondèr & Gojjam [G&G]: As those who visited G&G have noticed, their needs remain the Basics: jobs/decent homes/food security/potable water/sanitation facilities/etc.

Enemy’s Economic Warfare in G&G: Destabilizing Goijjam prevents usage of Tana & Abbay for development/agriculture [Food Security]. Since G&G are Tourist Destinations, Ethiopia’s Enemies want to destabilize G&G to discourage tourists [Loss of Income & Jobs].

3). Proxy War on Amaras by Egypt/EPLF/TPLF/etc.: As you can see, the mission of these Anti-Amaras in Amara Fanno Hats is to keep derailing Amaras’ Food Security [Farm Mechanization], Technological Advancement [Education, Industrialization, etc.], Investment/Business/Development, Communication/Transportation, etc.

  2. It has been almost customary to read news of the Fanos in Amhara and Shenes in Oromia scoring one victory after another government troops followed by atrocities committed by Amhara government soldiers in Oromia and Oromo government soldiers in Amhara region, not exactly in that sequence. Some times it has been reported in reverse. The government seems to do the same but its military communiqués usually tell us how it rendered both armed groups to the brink of total annihilation. Then it tells us how a hostile neighbor is waging a war on Ethiopia in a united front with the rebels. It is not who is not telling the truth but it is who is telling lies first. We have been told for more than 3 years now that Fanos have been winning one battle after another but they still have not liberated and a well defended area to establish their base. They have been running around like a scared gazelle (ሚዳቋ) in the wild. The same with Shenes. What the world we are coming to when it comes to Ethiopia?
