Israel’s national intelligence agency, Mossad, has reportedly reached an agreement of cooperation with Ethiopia’s National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS).
It is unclear if the “agreement” is a formally signed one or otherwise.
NISS Director General, Temesgen Tiruneh, and Mossad’s Horn of Africa office head met on Thursday to discuss cooperation, according to Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporate report which unspecified the name of the latter.
Peace, security and fighting terrorism are two key areas of cooperation for the two agencies.
Furthermore, the EBC report said the two intelligence agencies will cooperate on capacity building and technology areas.
“The National Information and Security Service will exploit all forms of support in technology and capacity building from Mossad to effectively work in the Horn of Africa to ensure peace and security, not just Ethiopia,” Temesgen Tiruneh is cited as saying.
Mossad’s Horn of Africa Office head, who is also a special envoy of Mossad Director General -Yossi Cohen, said on his part that Ethiopia has a strong stand in the fight against terrorism and that his organization will cooperatively work with Ethiopia’s NISS, and will continue support to NISS.

This reporting is fishy at best, even if MOSSAD had agreed to cooperate with Ethiopian national intelligence agency, MOSSAD will not confirm or deny it’s associations with any country or intelligence agency, including Ethiopia and therefore I will be hard pressed to believe this report, not only that, no other media outlets had reported this story. (Such a story?)
If this story is true, it’s about time the two historically connected countries to cooperate and work together for the well being and for the good of both countries and populations
