What is said to be an unanticipated attack on the Northern command of the Ethiopian Defense Force, a division that has been stationed in the region for over twenty years due to the conflict with Eritrea, on Tuesday this week dragged the Ethiopian government into a military clash with Tigray People’s Liberation Front(TPLF).
The latter governs the Tigray region of Ethiopia and used the region’s special force (it is believed to be well over 10,000 according to some commentators)to unleash a deadly attack on the Ethiopian Defense Force.
When Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed disclosed the new development on Tuesday in his social media page, he pointed out TPLF “attempted to loot” the military bases in the region.
The Defense Force was ordered to respond to the attack on the same day. Initially, it seems like it was a military operation. A day after the attack, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed made a televised appearance claiming that the defense force successfully reversed the attack. And called the development in the region “war.”
On Thursday, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Defense Force and head of the operation, General Berhanu Jula told journalists in the capital Addis Ababa during a press conference, “our country is in an unexpected and unnecessary war.”
There was no anticipation of war on the night of Tuesday until TPLF special forces attacked multiples of military bases in the region with the aim to loot heavy weaponry, he told journalists.
Furthermore, he said, “the Defense Force fought heroically to break from the siege and is now in anti-attack engagement.” In his eyes, TPLF could not take the war out of Tigray and it will end in Tigray.
Dansha, one of the places where TPLF forces opened the offensive, is lost to special forces from the Amhara region and the defense force, according to statements from government authorities.
President of Amhara region Temesgen Tiruneh claimed on Thursday that the Defense Force and Amhara region special forces, which is said to have been compelled to join the war following TPLF encroachment to the region, have occupied key places like Tegede and Soroka in the areas adjacent to what is now called western Tigray. Wolkait, a region that TPLF annexed following the victory over Colonel Mengistu’s government in 1991, is still under the TPLF control.
TPLF chairman and president of Tigray region Debretsion Gebremichal confirmed that fighting is going on in western Tigray and that he is getting important wins. He also said that the Northern Command has resolved to work with TPLF against what he calls “unitary” forces.
Mobilization
The Deputy Chief of staff of the Defense Force has disclosed that the reinforcement force is marching to northern Ethiopia from different directions to rescue the northern command.
Four demobilized military generals are returning to service with the invitation of the prime minister to serve in the war which seems to indicate that there is a possibility for the war to be longer than it is expected
Meanwhile, there were reports of an airstrike by the Ethiopian air force in the outskirts of Mekelle. They are said to be targeted against military facilities.

There are conflicting reports coming from both sides. Somebody, I say somebody, is telling lies to us. Chairman Mao, I’m sorry, Chairman Debre has claimed that his forces have overrun the northern front base and captured all the armaments including heavy artillery, missiles and helicopter gunships. He might have forgotten to mention the squad of MiG fighter jets parked at the base in that region. On the other hand the PM has told the citizens of that country and the world that the attempts to capture the large base by Debre’s forces were successfully repulsed and his forces have turned the tide chasing after the fleeing forces of Debre. Who you believe? Somebody is lying to/thru his teeth. It seems this senseless war is becoming music to ears for the BBC. Niggers killing each other, you know! Those damn, damn niggers going at each other main aorta! Watch now! The boys at BBC, AP, Reuters, WP and company rushing to the war front. They have been salivating for this for a long time especially to watch damn niggers slaughtering each other like savages from the dark ages. There was a movie called Chi-Raq, right? Now it is time for Eth-Raq. It will shatter box office records. Spike Lee, let’s go!!!!
Now these bigots roaming among us are betting with the last red cent they have in their pockets that Chairman Debre will repeat the victory he and his gangs scored over the door knob Mengistu in 1991. To me TPLF never scored that victory alone. They were just a band of frontier Bonnie and Clyde’s running for their lives the whole time until they stroke it lucky to find beast of burdens from Amhara such as the Tamrat Layne’s and from my own Oromo by the Dula’s in all later on joined by the Dawud Ibsa’s entourage. Then thousands both Amhara and Oromo joined them and that was the only means they could steamroll through the Amhara and Oromia regions. Without being able to ride on the backs of these mules they would have been holed up in their own forsaken escarpments counting the stars, But such mules are very hard to come by for them this time around except some bigots right here among us. These ‘bisas and utemas’ don’t have the balls like the Dula’s, Dawud’s and Layne’s to even pull the trigger at proven ranges. Debre and his gangs don’t have relief aid workers to pick on or even murder. He does not have good Samaritans to swindle such as the Bob Geldof’s or biblical famine to cheat on. Also will the youth of Tigray trade his cellphones for AK47’s just to lose his blessed life for something stupid?
Unless we see those mafia leaders come to court with their hands in cuffs, never stop this battle!
