After nearly two months of a rather slow rate of spread, Coronavirus infection rate is showing a remarkable increase in Ethiopia – one of the most populated countries in Africa.

The Ministry of Health reported that 16 more new cases have been confirmed over the past twenty-four hours after 2383 people were tested in the designated testing centers across the country.

What is alarming is that 13 of the new cases do not have a travel history. However, the Ministry of Health reported that they had exposure to COVID 19 infected persons. Two of the new cases have a recent travel history, and one patient had both a travel history and exposure to an infected person.

13 of the patients are from Addis Ababa -a city that is said to have nearly five million residents and a city where social distancing measures proved to be difficult for reasons of economic activity and culture.

One patient is in Woldia town- Amhara regional state. And two patients are in Southern Ethiopia – specifically Butajira and Wolaita Soda towns.

In terms of gender, the Ministry of Health Data shows that 9 are females and 7 are males.

The total confirmed case in the country has now reached 210. 106 patients are currently getting treatments in the designated centers across the country and no patient is reported to be in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). On the other hand the number of registered deaths reached five after one patient died on Saturday.

The Ministry of Health also disclosed that two patients reportedly recovered from the treatment centers in the capital Addis Ababa. The total case of recovery in the country, as of May 9, is 97.

So far Ethiopia has tested a total of 32,689 suspected coronavirus cases.

Abiy Ahmed is so rigid, unable to act timely when it comes to Covid-19 it is costing lives. In the past two years PM Abiy Ahmed had put all the worst case scenarios he could think of on the table and felt confident that he was ready for it all , if needs arise , if any or all of the worst case scenarios took place be it political , societal , economical or anyother challenges he could imagine of , he
thought he was ready to face them inorder to prove his greatness and win some votes , if enough votes were not gotten the plan included stealing votes.

Actually in many occasions PM Abiy instigated conflicts just so he can show up and look like the peacemaker who brought peace when in actuality Abiy himself started the conflict.

Currently Abiy Ahmed is using the Fano rifle cases and Eskinder Nega Addis Ababa housing demolition agenda to distract people from his arrogance dictatorship aim of staying in power after September , he could easily let a transitional government takeover but no, Mr. know-it-all Abiy is not ready to let noone but himself be the man. He went on attacking Oromos for no reason then claimed they were caught killing Amaras , then he went on killing Amaras claiming they were caught killing Oromos.

Abiy almost felt he had the formula for it all and that all the people should accept what he prescribed for them no questions asked.
Abiy has not had a press conference or he has not entertained questions for the longest , he even broke the previous records set by Meles Zenawi for going the longest without both the national and international press conferences. Abiy is a psychopath , a hypocrite and a frenemy to all who should not be trusted at any level past this September , so far he is showing any last cover up plans he could think of but come past September his true nature of a tyrant will for sure come out because the covering up plans of his are all being outdated .

It should be expected that the more people are tested the more people who will be found to be infected with the virus. The more people they catch with the virus now the better the prognosis looking forward. They must catch and isolate those who are walking around and unknowingly infecting others with the virus now before the colder and wetter season begins in full swing. The recovery rate is also encouraging. Based on today’s figures it is about 46 percent. With dietary condition nothing to praise about I see hope in the recovery rate and hope and pray that it will hold or even go higher henceforth. God Speed!!!

Contact tracing revealed most of the surge that took place this past week is amongst Amara Orthodox Fasika Easter celebration participants , that is why it is being recommended Orthodox Amara’s should get tested to catch the disease at an early stage.
