Ethiopia ‘s own Genzebe Dibaba is piling up world records in Athletics events. International Association of Athletics Federation reported that she broke new world record tonight in 2000 meters in a competition held at the Miting Internacional de Catalunya,Sabadell, Spain.
Genzebe Dibaba demonstrated a spectacular performance by taking over the pacemaker so early. It was not even half the race when she took over the lead at 2:42:65, according to the report.

She is a three time world indoor champion and also record holder in the 1500 meters distance.
In her new record in the 2000 meters, she sliced about seven seconds off from the indoor recorded best time which was held by Gabriela Szabo for nearly nineteen years, indicated report by International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF). She clocked 5:23.75.
“Although the 2000m isn’t an official world record event indoors, Dibaba’s performance – pending ratification – can be classed as an outright world record as it is faster than Sonia O’Sullivan’s outdoor mark of 5:25.36.”
she has fastest times in the 1500m,1 mile,2000m,3000m,2 miles and 5000 meters indoors, added the report.
