TORONTO, Canada — Ethiopian Airlines CEO Mesfin Tassew revealed in an interview with state-owned Fana Broadcasting Corporate that he did not know he would join Ethiopian Airlines. He was giving the interview on the occasion of Ethiopian New year. He was dressing in Ethiopian traditional attire and the holiday coffee ceremony in his office was mesmerizing.
He stated that he joined it later after winning a gold medal for academic excellence from Addis Ababa University Engineering faculty. At the time he received a gold medal from the then Ethiopian president colonel Mengistu Hailemariam.
He joined Ethiopian Airlines as an assistant engineer in the maintenance department about 42 years ago. He is now leading it as CEO. Over the past three years, Ethiopian Airlines has attained even more growth.
