It claims that it has wounded two body guards of Zenabu Lengerew
By Borkena News Desk
TORONTO, Canada — The Eastern Command of the Ethiopian Defense Force is making another claim, in less than a week , of military gain against what it calls “extremists.”
It said it “annihilated 116 extremists” in Dega Damot, which is located in Gojjam, Amhara region of Ethiopia.
News release from the Defense Force cited Colonel Redwane Rebato and Colonel Gifawossen Abebe, who reportedly led the operation, as saying many “extremists” were annihilated and two body guards of Zenabu Lengerew were wounded in an operation Hamus Gebeya.
The report also mentioned the names of six individuals whom it said were “the extremists corps commanders” and logistic support.
They are :
Dagne Dilu, Logistics head
Dejen Tena, long time combatant
Mene Aderaw, combatant
Awoke Yitayih, Deputy regiment commander
Aseye Dessie, combatant
Mengistu
The region’s security forces and “people from the area” have contributed in the operation, Defense for claimed.
The report did not specify the names of the bodyguards who are said to be wounded in the operation. Zenabu Lenegerew is one of the key leaders of the Fano movement in the Gojjam area which is now under the umbrella organization Amhara Fano National Movement (AFNM).
Furthermore, the Defense Force said that it has seized firearms including AK 47 rifles, Dshk and hand grenades along with government security forces uniforms.
Similarly, Defense force claimed the Airborne regiment forces carried out operation in Minjar district of North Shoa in Rarat Mariam Kebelle locality against “extrimist forces” whom it said were engaged in “looting.” The defense force attributed this particular information to Leitenant Berhe Gebretensae, commander of Mebrek regiment. It said it has seized individual and group assault rifles.
The Defense Force claims are not independently verified. The Amhara Fano National Movement has not remarked on the Defense Forces’ latest claims.
Notably, the Fano forces made a significant military victory in Dega Damot this week in which they killed, as they claim, two senior military commanders. In the same week, they made claim of another military victory in areas outside of the Amarha region.
