Fano forces claimed to have conducted an operation in Wollega and killed Brigadier General General Asnake Aytenew

Toronto – Fano Forces are claiming a “shining victory” in the Wollega region of Ethiopia. They are claiming to have killed a military general in what they said hours long fighting following an ambush attack they launched.
Asres Mare, a key leader within the Amahra Fano National Movement (AFNM) said on Sunday that a military convoy that was travelling between Nekemte (Wollega) and Gida Ayana was attacked in Andodedi locality.
There was an hours-long battle following the ambush, he said.
Furthermore, it is said that eight vehicles and “many” individual assault rifles were seized.
Ansha Seid Command of Fano’s Bizamo division was in charge of the mission.
According to Asres Mare, Brigadier General Asnake Aytenew (pictured above) and his entire regiment was neutralized. However, Borkena was unable to verify the story from another source.
Fano forces have been lanuching ambush attacks for several years now in addition to wagging conventional battles against government forces.
The number of casualties on the side of Fano forces is unspecified. Asres stated that a more detailed report will be released to the public.
The Ethiopian Defense force did not remark on Fano’s latest claim. It has been making its own claims that it has weakened the “extremist” force.
The Defense force has been alleging the rebel groups are supported by Eritrea and Egypt. More recently, the Ethiopian government linked Fano forces to Tsimdo – Eritrean and TPLF alliance. However, Fano deny any involvement in it.
