Toronto – Ethiopian government security forces reportedly raided Teddy Afro’s private music studio on Thursday night.
According to multiple social media sources, armed government security forces in Federal Police Uniforms. They have reportedly confiscated the music star’s properties.
They reportedly arrived in a pick up patrol vehicle at the studio in the CMC area of the city. Guards to the property are said to be beaten as they resisted the raid.
No search warrant was reportedly produced.
The Federal police have not released any information about it at the time of this writing.
Borkena was unable to verify the information from independent sources.
If verified, the action represents an escalation of repressive measures against Ethiopia’s most popular singer Teddy Afro.
On Thursday, security forces arrested his assistant manager and spokesperson, Mahlet Solomon from a hotel where she was staying in the Bole area of Addis Ababa.
On the same day, they arrested Youssuf Yasin, a close friend of Teddy Afro who does not have any association to his work in any form.
To date, those arrested have not appeared in court.
Teddy Afro’s latest album “Etorica” was released on his official youtube channel last Thursday. The whole album has got over 87 million views at the time of this writing.
The Ethiopian government seems to link the popular track “Das Tal” to a plan to incite protest ahead of the 7th general election which is scheduled to take place in June this year.

It is official singing is banned in that country now. The only way you can sing is if your songs have been thoroughly screened and allowed by the censorship bureau. Also, the only way you can listen to music is after your selections are vetted by the same bureau. Otherwise your home and work place will be searched and all of your electronic gadgets will be confiscated. I’m just giving you a heads up. Déjà vu 1970’s!!!
Now I’m really worried about this young man, the music icon Teddy Afro. He can be victimized by the thugs embedded in the regime’s security apparatus or even those in the opposition with the objective of creating out of control chaos in the capital. We all remember Hachalu Hundessa. In my book the jury is still out on who actually carried his assassination. I think the regime is sensing that it may lose significant number of seats in the next election and maybe planning to create chaos for an excuse to postpone the coming election. My mind is rushing now in all directions. If this raid is true, I call upon all international human right organizations and the Western Powers to be on the alert. If this young and family man is harmed or arrested it can be the last straw for an out of control carnage.

1). Studio?
2). Okay, let’s say Tewodros Kassahun Germamo [TKG] has studio & it was vandalized by ‘The Usual Suspects’ [Oromos]. TKG is NOT Amara! So, why would Oromos do that? Why haven’t TKG, Hamleset [his Eritrean spouse], and their immigrant White employees released security video footage? Is the studio guarded just by ዘበኛ? No way!
3). Almost all insurance in Ethiopia is covered by the government-owned Ethio Insurance. So, why would the government vandalize TKG’s insured property just to repay in full? Isn’t that like shooting yourself in the foot? Doesn’t make sense, does it? Hence, did TKG stage the vandalism to convert assets in to cash & flee? Looks-like that!
This is for the thugs who raided and robbed the studio of this artist. You must return every gadget you stole from the studio. Put it back! Don’t forget what happened to the other thugs before you. They had spent in jail for years or are living a scared deer life where ever they went. The same or even worse fate awaits you. Mark my word for it. Remember regimes go as they come mostly in disgrace. Keep that in mind.
