Toronto – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi initiated a phone call to Ismail Omar Guelleh. President of Djibouti.
It came in the wake of Djibouti President landslide election win on April 10, 2026.
However, Sisi’s call was not just about congratulating the president. The two leaders have periodic and direct contact. The office of the president described the relations between the two countries as “brotherly and friendly.”
In the phone conversation on Sunday, the two leaders “discuss the extensive relations of friendship and cooperation between the two sister nations, whose privileged ties are forged by history and a strong community of values,” as reported by the office of the president in French language.
In December 2025, Egyptian President visited Djibouti as the relation with Ethiopia continued to be tense. There were reports that Djibouti agreed to an Egyptian proposal to develop a port in Djibouti, as was the case with Eritrea. Planned spending on the project was undisclosed. Ethiopia uses Djibouti as the main gateway for its import and export needs, and spends about $2 billion in port fees.
Egypt has been working to attain a dominant geopolitical position in the Horn of Africa at least for over three years now. In 2024, it signed an agreement with Somalia including a military pact. About 10,000 Egyptian troops are to be deployed in the country as part of the AU peace keeping mission and on the basis of bilateral arrangement.

I don’t see anything inappropriate in this. We have to remember that Djibouti is an internationally recognized sovereign nation and entitled to its foreign relations as it wishes. But I will never lose trust and confidence in the son Dire Dawa to do any harm to his own kin and kit in the old country.
Translation: We know Abiye and Sisi work together for the same client so whatever happens doesn’t bother us because it is our guy in power. This is the time a real Ethiopian nationalist organization remove Abiye from power before he finishes the assignments given to him by the west via UAE.
We should also remember that the son of Dire Dawa was a guest at the inauguration of the GERD dam and one of the star speakers. It should also be known that Djibouti gets a sizable MW of dirt cheap electricity generated in Ethiopia. This is all part of el-Sisi’s futile effort to create an option when a seat at the dialogue table is still waiting for him.
This is just in! The indomitable army of Egypt riding on the backs its beasts of burden from Western Oromia , Tigray and Northwestern Amhara has annihilated the entire armed forces of Ethiopia and captured the capital itself. PM Abiy has fled the country and is now seeking refuge in his motherland of the Philippines. His mom was a Filipina and his father was an Indonesian. Jula was the first one to cut and ran like scared rabbit to his country of Rwanda, I had told you already that he is a Tutsi. I have the birth certificates of both PM Abiy and Jula right here in my hand. I am gonna list copies of both certificates on the auction block for fifty nine ninety five. I didn’t tell you how many zeros I have behind that. Hurry up and get yours before they are all gone. They are selling like hot cakes. Boy, am I good or what
