Teddy Afro yet to remark why Press Conference on Etorika Album was not allowed

Toronto – Ethiopia’s most popular singer Tedros Kassaun – widely known as Teddy Afro – is reportedly banned from press conferences regarding his new album Etorika.
The Music star has not officially remarked about the story. But he announced on his social media page that his new album Etorika will be released on his official YouTube Channel on Thursday around 8 a.m. local time.
The story has triggered a massive opposition among Ethiopians on social media.
Coalition for Ethiopian Unity (CUD), which is contesting the ruling party in the upcoming national election, on Wednesday released a statement condemning the ban on the press conference.
It said “We have learned recently that Artist Tewodros Kassahun’s (Teddy Afro) Press conference is obstructed .” Furthermore, it said “Freedom of expression is not a gift but inalienable rights of man.” The party interpreted the government’s action as indicative of entrenched customary practice of stifling the views of others.
Local news sources report that Teddy was approached by the ruling party in the past in connection with its campaign on access to the sea and other issues but Teddy Afro declined to participate. Borkena was unable to independently verify it.
However, it has been noticeable that the ruling Abiy Ahmed’s government tends to reflect a dismissive view of Teddy Afro.
A business review news from Ethiopia on Wednesday reported that Teddy Afro ended contract with Sewasew Multimedia and has refunded 33 million birr. He will be releasing his album on his own. The partnership is said to be four years old and valued at 50 million birr. Again, Teddy Afro did not release any official explanation on this but the source described the reason as “contention” – they parties were unable to resolve.

I just finished listening to the album on YouTube. Each truck sounds wonderful. They all seem to have been extensively highlighted using the latest tools available. It is amazing how AI is spreading globally at a speed too fast for any ample time to be regulated. His sound engineers and arrangers have done a commendable job to make every track pleasant to listen to. I don’t think he was even in the studio and on the microphone when this album was put together. As always he has been a trend setter, he has done a good job at showing how to sing in the era of enhancing gadgets. I recommend everyone to listen to every track and compare his voice in this album to his previous ones.
