Toronto – Global Society of Tigray Scholars and Professionals (GSTS) is calling for ” the immediate reconstitution” of the Tigray Interim Administration.
In a detailed assessment of the Interim administration’s performance sent to Borkena, GSTS rated Tadesse Worede’s Administration as one that has “failed Tigray.”
It said that it has disregarded “strategic priorities” and reversed what it called “modest gains” from the previous administration including in the area of press freedom.
“More concerningly, TIA has gone to great lengths in ways that undermine the aspirations of the people of Tigray for sustainable peace, freedom of speech, constitutional democracy, healing and recovery, and accountability, ” it said.
The organization was explicit in its accusation that the administration is taking Tigray on a path to another conflict which could affect the region and the rest of Ethiopia.
For GSTS, the administration has “…has become an instrument of narrow interests that endanger the Pretoria Peace Agreement, Tigray’s recovery, and the path toward an elected government.”
Opposition parties operating in Tigray have been accusing Tadesse Worede’s administration on similar grounds and for being a servant of the TPLF under Debretsion Gebremichael which was in turn accused of working with the Eritrean government to trigger another conflict.
GSTS tend to see the removal of the Interim Administration as an important condition to reverse the danger of war in the region, return to the business of implementation of CoHA and work on priority areas until a regional government is elected.
“The GSTS, therefore, calls for the immediate reconstitution of the TIA, with the new interim administration designed in a manner that departs significantly from the shortcomings of the past interim administrations and mandated with the responsibility of revitalizing and implementing the CoHA, delivering public services, and facilitating a transition to legitimate government through free, fair, and transparent elections,” it said.
Global Society of Tigray Scholars and Professionals (GSTS) claims to have over 5000 members in the country and abroad.

Dear countrymen/countrywomen,
Over the years, you have heard me calling the country that produced us all, Ethiopia, a gem of the colored. When I said that, I undoubtedly meant it. I did not just dream about it and woke up one day and start hallucinating with it. Not at all. It is rather etched in stone in the history of mankind. I am not alone in that assertion. I have more than 2 billion world citizens that back me up in my calling the old country Ethiopia the gem of the colored. It is revered in the Holy Scriptures. You need modern day evidence? Just watch and listen to what the leader of Malaysia is gushing with passion about Ethiopia.

He is not alone saying this but he is joined by more than 2 billion Muslims around the world including those in remote villages in Indonesia, the Philippines and steppes of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and even in the slums and ghettos of Egypt(those superpower wannabes in Al-Qahirah notwithstanding).
This is the country that some of you bigots and connivers want to tear apart.
There are no “Tigray scholars,” as such. Tigray “scholar-cum-rabble-rousers” is the appropriate term, thank you.
