Toronto – On October 29, borkena media reported, citing citizen reports on social media and Anchor media, that Bertukan Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, is seeking asylum along with Aster Mamo, former deputy prime minister.
As it turns out, the report is incorrect.
Bertukan Ayano was seen in Gondar on Friday along with the Prime Minister and other senior members of this government.
Abiy Ahmed led a delegation to Gondar where he visited the progress of Megeche Dam which is expected to be completed, based on disclosure from the government, by June this year.
It is unclear why Bertukan, whose turf is in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was made part of the trip. It appears to be a response on the part of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, who appears to be proficient in playing with visual propaganda, to the report that she was seeking asylum in the United States.
Restriction on access to information is severe in Ethiopia. Media inquiries most of the time, if not all the time, at least in the case of Borkena, go unanswered.
As a reputable Ethiopian news outlet, borkena would like to sincerely apologize for the incorrect news published on October 29.

Here is the PROBLEM with “LIBERALIZATION’ ( turning OWNERS to RENTERS) the CAPITALIST ‘West’ PRINTS $$$ for PENNIES on the $1 ( for INK & PAPER) and want to OWN natural RESOURCES (Oil, Gas, minerals, WATER, DAMS, ELECTRIC POWERS, FARMS, BANKS… etc. etc.) turning the CITIZENS of the target Nation to RENT PAYERS for using their own RESOURCE.
Only POSSIBLE if they have CONTROL over the nations “leadership” who VALUE their personal AMBITION ( looking POWERFUL while the real POWER remains in the HAND of the FOREIGN (Western) CAPITALIST, such as the so called ASSET MANAGEMENT FIRMS, like BLACKROCK which runs over $10 trillion assets world wide…
We need to avoid TURNING our people from OWNERSHIP of the nation & its resources to RENTERS, in their own LAND; for SHORT TERM personal benefits.

What does it mean for the ‘Global South” that holds DEBT in USD ?
1) if the ‘The Weimar Republic’ situation were to transpire, and $1 Biir = $1 USD the Eth total Debt would be equivalent to 1 year’s Coffee export..
2) else, the way the USD is depreciating ( used less & less globally) eventually it gets more & more affordable to pay back the debt… But that is assuming the Eth economic prospect is geared to GROW and become a) self sufficient b) has developed all its resources to meet the export demand for those FINISHED-PRODUCTS that would EARN IT the money it needs to not only cover its import needs but also pay for improving infrastructure build, manufacturing & farm product expansion, to improve the standard of living of its people…
Where there is plenty of WATER & ELECTRICITY (which we have in abundance) mean more FARM, Ranches, industry etc. etc ( unless we (FOOLISHLY) sell the means-of-productions to the RENT SEEKERS from elsewhere and alter the FATE of our people …)
