Toronto – Abune Mathias, Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, conveyed message of condolences on the passing of Hadji Mufti Umar Idris, former president of the Islamic Council of Ethiopia.
Outpouring messages of condolences have been inundating social media timelines of Ethiopians.
Abune Mathias has attended the farewell ceremony at the Millennium Hall in Addis Ababa and was seen weeping in public.
In his message of condolences, the described Hadji Mufti Umar Indris as intelligent, wise and patriotic and respectful of his people. “It is a loss for the country,” he said.
