Toronto – Fano Forces have reported a major military victory in North Wollo (East Amhara) over the past two weeks or so.
In one of the major operations near Beklo Manekia, at least 470 government soldiers were killed and over 150 captured. Some of those captured were wounded.
On Friday, Fano forces handed over those wounded to the ICRC team who were deployed to the area in response to the humanitarian situation related to the conflict.
The Ethiopian government has been alleging that Eritrea and TPLF forces were behind the latest Fano operation in the area. The rebel group on the other hand dismissed the allegation as “lie.”
Their operation continued this week too. Menelik Command of East Amhara is said to have stormed two fortified trenches of government forces.
Abebe Fantaw, Amhara Fano National Force (AFNF) Menelik Command Public Relation, spoke to Ethiopian Media Services about it.
