Captured Ethiopian government soldiers blames the government over denying their existence

Toronto – Ethiopian Defense Force has been making wild claims that it has annihilated over 90 percent of the armed forces operating in the country. But stories that captured government soldiers tell are different.
The Fano forces who have been waging an armed resistance in the Amhara region of Ethiopia have been making counter claims – oftentimes with video footage and pictures purportedly demonstrating their military achievement. They have been disproving government claims.
The latest one came about a week ago and the military gain is said to be a major one. Over 470 government soldiers were killed and more than 170 were captured.
Without admitting the outcome of the battle, the government (government affiliated media including government supported Youtube channels) have been alleging that Eritrean and TPLF forces were involved in the planning and execution of the latest Fano battle in the North Wollo.
Fano forces dismissed it as the “usual government lies” while explicitly stating that they would welcome cooperation with Eritrea or TPLF forces against Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government. Eritrea and TPLF have not yet remarked on the allegation.
There have also been cases when the Ethiopian Defense Force deny that its forces are captured by the Fano forces.
This week Fano forces released video footage in which a wounded and captured government soldier spoke out, with bitterness, that the government has been denying their existence and targeting them with drone attacks.
“It has been five years since I saw my parents ; I have not met my son yet,” he said bitterly. The soldier also advised members of the forces including those who are taking training to “escape.”
