Toronto – An Ethiopian Woman reportedly stabbed to death in her work place this past weekend in Norwegian capital Oslo.
According to sources, the suspect, who is said to be only 18 years old, stabbed the victim multiple times in a youth center where the victim used to work. He is said to be a German citizen who lived in Norway for a long time. Norwegian sources indicated that the suspect has a ” history of right-wing extremism.”
The tragic incident occurred on the night of Saturday to Sunday but authorities disclosed it on Monday. However, the identity of the suspect is not disclosed in accordance with Norwegian law.
The woman is identified as Tamima Nibras Juhar. She was 34, according to a BBC Amharic report. On the night of Saturday, the victim was working alone in a youth welfare housing facility in Oslo’s Kampen neighborhood.
BBC Amharic cited AFP to report that the suspect is facing terrorist charges in addition to homicide.
A Norwegian news source cited Philip Green of the Oslo Police District, prosecutor, as saying during a press conference on Monday, “We believe he had an intention of creating fear within part of our population.”
Tamima was an employee of an organization that works on vulnerable youth and integrates them to the society.
The suspect used to live in the center. He was captured in the capital Oslo hours after the incident, according to a BBC Amharic report which cited media sources from Norway. It is also indicated that he admitted involvement in the killing of Tamima.
She reportedly immigrated to Norway as a teenager and studied at Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet). She had been working with children and youth while studying.
