Toronto – The Fano Forces in the Gojjam area, Amhara region of Ethiopia, claim that they have killed 20 government forces and wounded 35 others. Agew Mider Division, Kegnazmach Simeneh Desta Brigade and Asir Aleka Ephrem Atnafu brigade jointly conducted the operation, according to sources.
Also, they made claims that a senior military commander was killed during an operation, on Monday, near Kosober locality of the area. However, the identity of the commander is unspecified.
However, the fano forces have not disclosed if there was a casualty on their side.
The Ethiopian Defense Force has not published any information or remark in connection with the recent claim of the Fano forces including the killing of a senior commander. On the other hand, it has been making claims in the past two weeks that “thousands of Fano forces are surrendering.”

In a related development, intense battles between Fano and government forces have been reported in Gondar and Wollo areas of the Amhara region.
At least 7 government forces are killed and five others injured in an ambush attack in the North Gondar area.
Abebe Fantaw, one of the senior leaders of Amhara Fano National Force (AFNF), told Ethiopian Media Services that the forces under the umbrella of this group of Fano made significant military gains in the series of military engagements over the past few days.
He added “Fano forces have positioned themselves in a way to make major moves including controlling cities.” On the other hand, he alleged that government forces have been positioning themselves in a way that retreat is possible in the event of suffering defeats.
