Toronto – The recent statement the ruling Prosperity Party released after concluding a week long central committee and executive committee meeting continues to get reactions from different directions including from Eritrea.

Within Ethiopia, the latest criticism came from Ethiopian Citizens For Social Justice (EZEMA) party –  a party that has been widely criticized in recent years for being too cozy with the ruling party.

In a statement it released on Tuesday, the party remarked on a range of issues highlighted in the ruling party’s statement including the Pretoria Peace Agreement, the conflicts in the country and the alleged negative attempts to disrupt the government.

Also, the party said that the prosperity party can not claim a monopoly over the “victory” in connection with the war in the Tigray region of Ethiopia (against the TPLF).   The party asserts that the victory was possible because of the collaboration of all Ethiopians. Apart from Ethiopians, the Eritrean government took part on the part of the Ethiopian government after the TPLF allegedly fired rockets at Eritrea.

Regarding the Pretoria Agreement – which ended the two years bloody conflict – EZEMA said the government has demonstrated gaps in the implementation of the agreement. Notably, the disarming of TPLF forces and the return of displaced people to their places were among the key provisions in the agreement.

Furthermore, EZEMA accused the ruling prosperity party of lacking motivation of accountability, among other things.

The party leader, Dr. Birhanu Nega, is a member of Abiy Ahmed’s cabinet as Minister for Education. Last year, hundreds of senior officials within the party left in what appears to be opposition to close relationships with the ruling party.
