Addis Ababa, Ethiopia- The Ethiopian Ministry of Transport and Logistics announced that it was unaware of the launch of bus public transport between Nairobi and Addis Ababa.
Following a report by BBC Amharic, the ministry clarifies that the announcement of public bus service between Nairobi and Addis Ababa was made without its knowledge.
The ministry noted that BBC Amharic reported that a transport service provider called “Abyssinia Luxury Coach” had announced it had started transporting passengers by bus from Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, to Addis Ababa. The minister stated that it was done without their knowledge and said it was not requested either.
However, the ministry, which is legally responsible for transport and logistics in the country, expressed its unawareness on the matter.
The ministry announced that while there was a national plan to start this service in the 2018 (2025/2026) fiscal year to create a connection between the two countries, the process requires a cooperation agreement, joint tariff setting, and other diplomatic issues between the two countries.
The ministry further stated that it would be working with the relevant government body on the matter.

The usual Ethiopian bureaucratic way of looking at private initiatives and strong desire to control or even repress them from the very inception kicks in once again!
It is not good. Kenya people are liars and they steal a lot. They will bring trouble to our peaceful Addis Ababa
