Toronto – The Fano forces on Wednesday claimed the offensive they launched targeting Belay Zeleke International Airport disrupted flight operation for hours.

The operation took place on Tuesday in the afternoon, it was said.  The operation reportedly covered areas from Meshenti all the way to the airport.

Ethio News cited Fano sources from the area to report Fano forces  launched an operation targeting government forces military camps in Mekod and Chercher military camps. It was attacking from the west side of the city.

The source however is unspecified if there were casualties either on government forces or fano side.

Borekna was unable to verify the story from other sources.

There was no report, whatsoever, on the part of the Ethiopian Airlines regarding any flight cancellations or flight delays to Bahir Dar.

The Ethiopian Defense Force has not remarked about Fano’s latest claim in Bahir Dar either.

According to the source cited above, Fano forces have fired mortars targeting military camps in the city. The mortar firing range is within 4 kilometers. If the mortar attacks were true, it suggests that the Fano forces were undertaking the operation within less than a ten minutes drive to the capital.

However, Fano’s military engagement against the government forces is still active in many areas of the Amhara region of Ethiopia. Multiple sources have reported about it.

In Gojjam, Fano is poised to introduce a new round of restriction on the movement of vehicles and road closures in response to government action.

The government forces mobilized a huge force to the region with the aim to eliminate Fano forces by the end of June 2025. That did not occur. On the contrary, recent video footage circulating on social media  (mainly Facebook and twitter) purportedly show captured government forces in many areas of the region.

Meanwhile, The Amhara Fano National Force (AFNF) is vowing to continue the offensive during the remainder of Ethiopia’s rainy season (locally called Kiremt). Forces under this command across the Amhara region are planning to coordinate military operations.

The Fano forces have been facing internal challenges – particularly along the line of forming a single functioning command structure and the problem seems to be persisting. And they are reportedly paying for it in different forms.

The Defense Force has been making recurring claims that thousands of Fano forces surrendered. Fano forces call the claim a “pure lie.”

  1. Amara Fanno [Misnomer]: They are all carrying out Proxy Missions for Egypt, viz., “Destabilize/Bleed/Bankrupt/Paralyze Ethiopia 24/7/365 on many fronts using Proxies.” Else, how would derailing food security, disrupting transport, looting, etc., help Amaras?

Expendable Ethiopians: Ethiopians have been falling for Egypt’s Ethiopia-Destabilizing Ploys and have been dying serving Egypt as Proxies. All the while, Egypt has been using Ethiopians as expendables without ever sacrificing Egyptians. It’s a no-brainer, isn’t it?

Amaras & Existential Threat: From whom are Amaras under existential threat? Let’s say it is from the Oromos [The Usual Suspects]. So, why do more Amaras still live in Oromia than in the Amara State? No Oromo invited or forced any Amara to live in Oromia either.

Amaras & Oromos: During the Wollo crisis [1970s drought/famine], Wollega [Oromos] welcomed the displaced Wolloyés [≈200K Amaras]. Why didn’t the Amaras [Shewa/Gojjam/Gonder] take in any Wolloyé? Why do they ‘care’ now if they didn’t care then?

Inciting Inter-Ethnic Animosity & Bloodshed: Wollega’s population has hovered around 2 million. Yet, when the orchestrated inter-ethnic Amara-Oromo clashes flared/erupted in Wollega, it was reported: “Wollega Oromos massacred >2 million Amaras in Wollega.”
