Ethiopian Airlines responds regarding Flight ET-298 Incident

All passengers are reported to be safe

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The Ethiopian Airline on Thursday announced that its Airlines Flight ET-298 experienced a minor skidding incident today after landing at Mekelle Alula Abanega Airport, having departed from Addis Ababa. It was raining at the time the aircraft landed.

Reports circulating on social media indicate that an Ethiopian Airlines flight, en route from Addis Ababa to Mekelle (the capital of the Tigray region), was involved in an incident last night. The aircraft reportedly experienced the minor accident as it neared its destination, landing in a muddy area. 

In the statement, the airline said that according to the information it had so far, “there were no injuries to our esteemed passengers, and they safely disembarked the aircraft.”

It ,however, stated that  two of its flight crew members sustained minor injuries and were taken to a nearby medical facility for further treatment. “After receiving medical attention, they were taken to a hotel,” the statement added.

It further said that the Ethiopian Airlines always prioritizes passengers safety and apologizes for any inconvenience caused to its esteemed customers due to this incident. 

It also states that it will provide further updates as more information becomes available.

  1. I was surprised that ‘The Gold Race’ Debre and his TDF did not tell us they had shot downed an SU-35 military jet with 20 military generals on board. What’s wrong with them?
