War Hovering Again in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia

Borkena

Toronto –  It is not too long since the war in the Tigray region of Ethiopia devastated the region claiming at least over 500,000 lives.

As the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) is engaged in a militarist activity, this time allegedly backed by the Eritrean government, there are fears that war could break out again in the region.

When Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed appeared at the Ethiopian parliament last week, he asked religious leaders and diplomats to step in and advise what is left of the TPLF forces under Debretsion Gebremicahel to not start war.

“Once it starts, it will be difficult. And it will not be one like last time,” he stated, indicating this one, if it breaks out, would be a devastating one.

The TPLF responded on Saturday saying it is not preparing for war and that its interest is in peace.
