Toronto – The “Tigray Defense Force” (TDF) an army has reportedly fired mortars and Dshk against another armed ethnic Tigray group organized under “Tigray Peace Force.”
The latter resisted what morphed as Debretsion’s Faction of TPLF and Eritrean government alliance and crossed to the Afar region of Ethiopia where it had been organizing resistance groups. According to sources, it was named as “Tigray Peace Force” only this week.
Ethio Focus, one of the local news providers, reported that the TDF forces started fighting in Wajra area (what is referred to in the region as South Tigray) Alasa locality.
From the reports, the TPF entered the Tigray region from Afar – apparently with a move to respond to TDF move to control “South Tigray.” It was in what appears to be a response to the situation that General Yohannes, who is said to be one of the influential military generals within the TDF that strongly supports the Debrestion faction, deployed about 50 trucks of forces to the area.
However, there are no reports of casualties from the incident in Alasa as the Tigray Peace Force reportedly exercised restraints.
Opposition parties in the Tigray region have reportedly condemned the incident as they tend to view it as a development that could engulf the region in another bloody war.
There are remarks that the two armed groups are proxy forces. The TDF that supports the Debretsion faction of the TPLF is allegedly a proxy force for Eritrea while the Tigray Peace Force is linked to Abiy Ahmed’s administration.
It has been in the news recently that the Eritrean government and Debretsion led faction of the TPLF overcame the sense of enmity, at least for now, and formed a new political and military alliance ; it is called Tsemdo. The Debretsion force has reportedly acquired fire arms including drones with support from unspecified external forces. Borkena has been unable to verify this information from other sources.
The Federal government under Abiy Ahmed has been warning against illegal foreign relation while accusing Eritrea of stirring conflict in Northern Ethiopia. Eritrea has been denying it.

The problem the noble people of Tigray are facing is the dominant groups in their region were founded by the deacons/darasaas of Marx, Lenin and Mao and have been making the decisions on how they should live and who they should follow without challenging questions since 1975. Until the day those upright people find the wherewithal and dislodge these ‘sheik-al-bahr’s’ off their shoulders, they will continue to live from in one deadly and destructive war to another until the cows come home and in such setup, the cows will never come home.
