Fano Forces in Gojjam battling to break government moves to encircle the forces in the province

Toronto – Amhara Fano National Force (AFNF) Gojjam Division is reporting that massive new government forces are heading to the region from several directions.
Asres Mare Damtie, executive committee member of AFNF, shared information on his social media page confirming the story.
“From Gondar side 30 lorry trucks full of the ruthless Abiy Ahmed’s forces have entered Bahir Dar from Gondar direction and heading to North Gojjam. From Wollo direction troops greater than this number reached Mekane Selam[ the parts of Wollo adjacent to Gojjam]. From Wollega one core of the army is crossing to Gojjam,” Asres Mare wrote in his update.
He added that the focus of the government’s intention is to weaken the “Fano force operating in the Gojjam.” Furthermore, Asrese stated that it is a new and urgent plan. The Fano forces tend to think that the government is exploiting the sowing season in the region ( the rainy season has already started in some areas).
The 2nd division of the Fano forces operating in Gojjam area has been battling against government forces on Friday starting as early as 4 a,m.. in Arate, Mota town, Washera, Filklik, Mota, Asteraio, and in the direction of Este, according to Asres.
The government forces are allegedly massacring farmers who are in their farms undertaking sowing activity. Artilleries and other heavy weaponry are employed in the campaign.
Asres Mare also made claims that all the Fano divisions in Gojjam are responding to the offensive from the government forces and working to break what appears to be an effort to encircle Fano forces.
Ethio News cited sources from the region to report that government forces are on a mission to retake areas from Fano, take control of training grounds of Fano Forces, eliminate Fano leaders and control logistics hubs.
There are also reported deployments of troops to other parts of the Amhara region of Ethiopia.
The Ethiopian Defense Force has not remarked on the latest reports from Fano forces. Chief of Staff, Berhanu Jula, told the Ethiopian Parliament last week that 90 percent of the armed groups in the country are annihilated. However, multiple reports from the several parts of the Amhara region of Ethiopia seem to suggest that Fano forces are still in control of extensive areas which means that no government structures are functional in these areas.
