Abiy Ahmed’s one-man dictatorial regime faces a severe political, socio economic and military crisis. Specifically on the military front; desertions, internal fighting, and low morale signal a profound lack of confidence and leadership. Attempts to boost morale with false promises of victory are failing.

The regime’s increasingly desperate measures reflect a significant decline in military morale and effectiveness. Daily desertions and killings within the ranks indicate a profound crisis of confidence and leadership. The remaining soldiers are reportedly demoralized and suffering from a severe lack of discipline. Recent attempts to quell this internal decay through promises of imminent victory and swift return to barracks following conflicts with Fano and OLA are clearly intended to deceive and retain dwindling support. The regime’s attempts at manipulation are evident in these hollow assurances. The situation suggests a potential for further instability and unpredictable consequences.

There is concern regarding the ongoing challenges facing the Amhara people. There are credible reports suggesting that certain pro-government groups, with potentially divisive agendas, are actively undermining the Amhara struggle for existence and potentially exploiting the current vulnerabilities within the community. These actions may be part of a broader strategy to erode the unity and resilience of the Amhara people and prevent them from fully participating in the Ethiopian national discourse.

It is imperative that all stakeholders understand the gravity of this situation.
