Toronto – Dashen Bank, one of the big private banks in Ethiopia, this week launched an app for fuel consumption payment.
Who is it for? For drivers, gas stations in the country and for government officials with inspection roles in the fuel marketing.
The digital payment system is particularly for fuel consumption and works for selected fuel stations across Ethiopia. The bank has plans to make the service available for all gas stations.
It is a three step payment process. User open the app, select fuel payment option, enter code they receive and make the payment, according to the bank. Alternatively consumers cold scan provided QR code and complete payment.
Dashen Bank has over 900 branches across Ethiopia.
