Addis Ababa, Ethiopia –The Ethiopian Federal Police has signed a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Iranian Police, aimed at enhancing collaboration on a range of mutual issues, including intelligence sharing, joint border crime prevention, and capacity-building initiatives.

According to a statement released today, the agreement was signed by Ethiopian Federal Police Commissioner General Demelash Gebremichael and Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Radan, the Commander of Iran’s Law Enforcement Forces. The MoU outlines joint efforts on areas such as combating transnational crimes, exchanging professional experience, and strengthening institutional capacity.

“The two police institutions have agreed to work together on intelligence exchange, tackling cross-border crimes, and capacity building,” the statement said, emphasizing the growing importance of international cooperation in law enforcement.

This is not the first time Ethiopia has engaged in such bilateral police cooperation. In recent years, the Ethiopian Federal Police has signed similar agreements with law enforcement bodies in countries including Russia, China, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.

The agreement with Iran is expected to be implemented with periodic reviews to ensure its effectiveness. Officials from both sides expressed optimism that the partnership would contribute to regional stability and mutual learning.

  1. As long as the old country benefits from this MoU to keep the murderous Houthis nose clean of the old country, it may receive the nod. It has been in the news that Houthis in Yemen and Al-Shabaab in Somalia have formed a united front and we all know the fact that Al-Shabaab wants to be the sole ruler over the entire Horn of Africa.

Otherwise, I don’t like this MoU.
