The Defense force claims the operations were conducted in one day

Toronto – Ethiopian Defense Force on Sunday made claims that it killed “over 300” fano forces in a single day battle in Gojjam only. It used to refer to fans as “extremists.” In the latest news update it shared on social media, it referred to them as “extremist Fano.’
However, it did not specify in which parts of Gojjam were the Fano force killed and when. Last week, it was reported that 120 civilians were killed in drone strike in Enarj Enawgua district after government launched three rounds of attacks.
Human Rights Organizations in the country have not yet released a statement in connection with what has been described as a massacre.
The Defense Force also made claims of another military victory in the Shoa area of the region. “Yesterday, around evening in an operation the army undertook in North Shoa zone, Bassona district, Kassima locality 4 leaders of the group with their about 50 gunmen are parted forever [ used the Amharic word “ሸኝቷቸዋል]. Furthermore, it said it seized 3 Bren machine guns, five sniper rifles and “several other firearms that the group was armed with.”
The claim is not verified by independent bodies. The Fano forces did not remark, at the time of this writing, on the defense force’s claim either. They were rather making counter claims that they had made military gains in different parts of the Amhara region. In fact, they claimed to have killed a military Intelligence official in Ebnat, South Gondar area.
In Dera district of North Shoa, Betuti Kebele ( this is within a range of 100 kilometers of distance from the capital Addis Ababa), the Defense force under the command of Colonel Ghadisa Diro “took control of training grounds of the extremist group inflicting heavy human and material loss,” it added. However, the number of human losses are unspecified.
In the Oromia region of Ethiopia, the West Command of the Defense force reports that it has “annihilated” Shane gunmen ( a reference to Oromo Liberation Army rebels) in Horo Guduru Zone Jardega Jarte district Kochona area. This too is not verified from independent sources.
The defense force has been making public statements for well over a year now that it has “completed” its operation in the Amahra and Oromia region. Also, it has been making a revitalized propaganda campaign to reverse the legitimacy crisis – especially after the full fledged war in the Amhara region of Ethiopia.
