Toronto – Mark Carney was sworn in as Prime Minister of Canada on Friday following the formal resignation of Justin Trudeau on Friday.
Carny has experience as Governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England. But he does not seem to have significant experience in Canadian party politics. .
He has announced a 24 member cabinet remarkably cutting the number from 37.
The National Post quoted him as saying “we are a very focused government, focused on actions and we will work immediately.” It will be “focused” on “what matters to Canadians.”
Growing the economy and protecting jobs from the impacts of Trump administration tariffs on Canadian goods by diversifying trade corridors are among actions in the priority areas for Prime Minister Carney.
PM Carney has been facing criticism from the Conservative Party of Canada. He is seen as the same with former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau agenda and more as an election trick.
