Toronto – TesfaNews, pro-Eritrean government news source, on Tuesday reported that the TPLF faction under Debretsion Gebremicael is now in control of Alula Aba Nega airport in Mekelle.
It is also reported that Getachew Reda has fled to Addis Ababa. However, borkena has been unable to confirm the news from other sources.
On Tuesday, Getachew Reda shared an update on his social media indicating that the generals loyal to the Debretsion faction have been engaged in military action against civilians. He wrote “…civilians protesting these illegal moves being rounded up and shot at at random. Many casualties in Adigudom and parts of Mekelle…” He also alleges that “external forces” are involved – apparently in the action against the Interim government.
The Ethiopian government has not yet remarked on what is unfolding in the Tigray region.
Meanwhile, Eritrea’s Minister for Information, Yemane Gebremeskel, responded to Tsadkan Gebretensae’s latest article published on African report that war could break out any moment between Eritrea and Ethiopia but “Tigray cannot be the battleground for Ethiopia and Eritrea”.
Eritrea, through Yemane Gebremeskel, severely criticized Tsadkan. Yemane Gebre Meskel stated “Tsadkan has since long been an ardent proponent of the toxic agenda of aggression against Eritrea; and in particular the forceful annexation of Eritrea’s port of Assab.”
In recent months, Eritrea has been accusing Ethiopia of “war mongering.” Tsadkan’s latest remark is seen in that light.
“Perhaps inadvertently, Tsadkan reveals that he is privy to the war-mongering agenda when he announces: “Preparations are in their final stages”. And while shedding crocodiles tears for peace, his real intention is to stoke and rally his clique to the war agenda, encapsulated in his cryptic words of “shortening the war”. The fallacious narrative that he peddles on perpetual enemity between Eritrea and its neighbours emanates from the same toxic calculus,” Yemane Gebremeskel wrote.

This report tells us that Getachew Reda has fled to Addis/Finfinne. It sounds Brother Yemane is the one dispatching it from his comfy home in Piccola Roma.
