Toronto – The military generals in the Tigray region of Ethiopia who recently expressed support to the TPLF faction under the Debretsion have reportedly started taking actions of a military nature and dismantling administrative structure.
Credible local reports indicate that the Interim Administration in Adiabat city is already dismantled. The fates of Interim administration officials are unknown at this point.
Getachew Reda, president of the Interim, shared an update on his social media page accusing what he called “few military officers” are pursuing “misguided decision” to dismantle the administration across Tigray. He also highlighted that civilians are harmed in parts of Mekelle and Adi Gudom as the military leaders move to control structures by force.
The faction under Debresion or the Federal government have not yet remarked about the latest development.
The update Getachew Reda shared on social media reads as follows :
“A misguided decision by a cabal of few army officers to take the law into their hands and dismantle state structures throughout Tigray the last few days has plunged the region into an uncharted territory, with civilians protesting these illegal moves being rounded up and shot at at random. Many casualties in Adigudom and parts of Mekelle. The rampage is part of a harebrained plan to install an illegal faction of TPLF into the position of power, a move that flies full in the face of the aspirations of the people of Tigray and if the Pretoria Agreement. It’s incumbent upon all the stakeholders to the Pretoria agreement to face down such a brazen move before it escalates into another round of devastating war on and against the people of Tigray. There is every reason to believe external forces are trying to take advantage of this crisis to stock up more violence throughout the region and beyond. As if the suffering of hundreds of thousands of people in IDP camps is not worse enough, the very officers who only recently put themselves in harm’s way in their people’s cause. Much as it pains me to break ranks with my erstwhile comrades, it’s altogether fitting and appropriate that we condemn such reckless acts of unmitigated violence in the service of a faction hell bent on grabbing power at all costs.”

It can be correctly guessed what is in the thought process of Debre and his cabals. They have a good deal of their homework done before this following the Pretoria Agreement. For this or that reason they never fully disarmed especially of military grade weapons. They had it all stashed away except missiles and heavy artillery. They were buying their time for an opportune moment to rear their war addicted heads. They may think now is the right moment with the federal government and its forces tied up in fighting bigots and connivers both in Amhara and Oromia regions. They seem to be sure that 2018 Part Deux is now. But it is a very sad situation for those noble people of Tigray. Once again, they are doomed to lose their sons and daughters in another senseless conflict. It seems they have not seen a constant peace since 1975. What a life! What a sad story!!!
