Gojjam Fano is said to be the largest fano forces from all the Amahra region of Ethiopia

Toronto – Fano forces in Gojjam are claiming that they killed a senior defense force military commander along with six of his bodyguards in an ambush. The incident occurred on Monday.
Fano Marshet Tsehayu, the public relations representative for Gojjam Fano, stated that the commander, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was traveling between Dangilla and Addis Kidam when he was ambushed and killed by Fano forces.
“The vehicle was damaged in a grenade attack,” Marshet said, adding, “It was not possible to recognize those killed in the attack.” He further explained that the defense force members escorting the commander were all killed, and the DShK mounted on the vehicle was destroyed along with the vehicle.
Marshet told the Ethiopian Media Service (EMS) that fighting between Fano forces and the defense force continues in many areas of Gojjam, in Ethiopia’s Amhara region.
“We are continuing the war with ambush, guerrilla, and fast offensive tactics,” Marshet added.
At the time of this writing, the defense force has not commented on the latest claim from Fano forces. However, for many weeks now, the defense force has been asserting that Fano forces are no longer in a position to stand their ground and fight.
Meanwhile, credible reports indicate that over 80 percent of the Amhara region remains under the control of Fano forces. Abebe Fantaw, one of the leaders of Amhara Fano in Wollo (Bete Amhara), emphasized this in an interview with Ethio News this week, stating that towns are encircled.
In a related development, clashes between the defense force and Fano forces have been reported in Shoa as government forces attempt to weaken Fano’s presence in the area.
