Toronto – Amhara Fano Popular Organization – Gondar Teklay Gizat Command military commander, Planning and strategic Division head, colonel Tadesse Eshete , is reportedly killed during a battle between his forces and Ethiopian Defense forces in South Gondar, Amhara region of Ethiopia.
He was killed in a battle near Gaynet along with His bodyguards , the organization announced on Saturday.
Colonel Taddesse has reportedly planned and executed consecutive battles in Southern Gonader. He was killed in the early morning hours on Saturday.
Before joining the Fano, Colonel Tadesse has served in the Ethiopian Defense Force , including in peace-keeping missions in Darfur and Somalia.
This is the second high profile killing of a Fano leader in less than two months. On January 22, Yohannes Alemayehu, one of the prominent Fano leaders in the Gojjam region of Ethiopia, was killed along with other Fano leaders near the Washera area.
