Toronto – A new video footage of General Tefera Mamo is released on Monday. This time he is seen making a speech to Fano forces in Minjar which is in a range of about 100 kilometers to the capital Addis Ababa.
“We have to do our own homework as an Amhara,” he said in a message to Fano forces. He painted a picture of what he described enemy forces and their intentions to eliminate Amharas as people.
Tefera Mamo highlighted the attack on Amhara since the time of the invasion of Fascist Italy and its systemic continuity during the successive governments in Ethiopia. The problem got worse after Abiy Ahmed took power in 2018, based on Tefera’s view that he shared in his 14 minutes long speech.
He hailed the military achievements of Fano in the past one year, and that the force could be more powerful when all the forces from all parts of Amhara come together. He said liberating the region is a priority and then Amhara would work on other fellow Ethiopians to establish a system that is fair to all.
He emphasized that whatever the cost has to be paid to reverse existential threat to Amhara.
General Tefera was a member of the Defense Force for several decades and was arrested repeatedly. He abandoned his home in Addis Ababa and joined Fano forces a few months ago.
Take a listen to his speech below (in Amharic) and share your views in the comment section below.
