Toronto – when Ethiopia and Eritrea ended two decades of hostile relations in 2018, the Eritrean president made a frequent visit to Ethiopia. In one of his remarks, he reportedly said that he will not allow anyone to threaten the alliance that Ethiopia and Eritrea forged , in the aftermath of the fall of Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF). He went to the extent of saying he would personally give “his own life.”
When Eritrea’s government relation with Abiy Ahmed government went sour over the way the war between the TPLF and Ethiopia’s federal government was concluded, the Eritrean President did not bother to actively work to form an anti-Ethiopian alliance and formalize it in Asmara.
Divergent views have been emerging over the past few days in response to the Anti-Ethiopia Axis. How dangerous is this axis and how will it shape the developments in the region which is already tense? Take a listen to FirstPost analysis and interview, and share your views in the comment section.

There is nothing new except the photo politics of the three leaders aired so as to catch the attention of the international community. Let alone We Ethiopians, any ordinary men with reasonable mind, are well aware of the fact that Egypt hasn’t left a single stone unturned to ban Ethiopia from constructing GERD. By the time Egypt has convinced itself with the inevitability of the completion of GERD, it has got the issue of the sea access as a jackpot lottery and thought it has got a fertile ground to gear Ethiopia to war. The other thing that seems new, next to photo politics, is the shamelessly forwarded appeal of Egypt to Mogadishu government to play the fire at the cost of Somalis’ life to secure its interest. Anyone can smell that no one /including Eritrea and Mogadishu/ trusts Egypt. Since the mutual interests of the three nations is not the main driving factor of signing the tripartite agreement and the spirit of ’enemy of my enemy’ is a pushing factor behind, the agreement is not only dead on arrival but also its value wont weigh the value of their photo . As the successful execution of GERD under Dr. Abiy government’s leadership speaks loud, nothing will stop Ethiopia from securing its sea access soon. Reminding the uninterrupted effort of Egypt to exert pressure on Ethiopia so far through the highly corrupted top officials of USA including moron D. Tramp was futile, I hereby humbly request the readers of Borkena, not to take it as bragging if I conclude by a well-known proverb of our Afar’s forefathers ’’The barking of the bravest dogs, let alone the old ones, won’t stop the camel from its journey’. Regards.
