ADDIS ABABA – (BORKENA) – Two people were killed and 70 have been arrested without due process since last October amidst the ongoing attack in Guraghe and East Gurage Zones of Central Ethiopia Region, Gogot for Guraghe Unity and Justice Party disclosed in a statement it issued here.
Party Chairman, Mohammad Abrar, expressed dismay that the rampant violation of rights, killings and arbitrary arrests being witnessed in the Gurage Zone have reached a serious level, Voice of America (VoA), Amharic Service reported yesterday.
VoA said that efforts made to include responses and comments from the officials of the Zone were unsuccessful as the officials did not pick up their phones.
However, the VoA Radio reported the other day that the President of the Central Ethiopia Region, Endashaw Tassewe, spoke of the detainment of 276 people in the stated Zone of the Region.
