Toronto, Canada — Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Sudan‘s leader since 2019, met with Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki in Asmara.
The Eritrean Ministry of Information said al-Burhan arrived in Asmara on Friday morning. President Isaias greeted him upon his arrival at Asmara International Airport.
The Sudanese leader’s visit was described as “brief.” He returned to Sudan hours after meeting with President Isaias at the State House.
Details of the meeting remain unspecified. The Eritrean Ministry of Information said the two leaders held “extensive discussions on bilateral relations, developments in Sudan, as well as regional and global issues of mutual interest.”
The meeting between the two leaders came at a time when tensions in the Horn of Africa continue to worsen, with concerns about renewed conflict involving Eritrea and Ethiopia.
Recently, Sudan accused Ethiopia of a drone attack targeting the airport in Khartoum. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government denied the accusation, while Sudan vowed to retaliate. There were reports that Sudan has been deploying soldiers along the Ethiopian border.
There have also been allegations that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan are training within Ethiopian territory with financial support from the United Arab Emirates. Sudan has also accused the RSF of launching drone attacks from within Ethiopian territory. However, the claims have not been independently verified.
Clear signs of worsening relations between Sudan and Abiy Ahmed’s government continue to unfold. During his recent appearance before the Ethiopian parliament, Abiy accused Eritrea, the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) and Sudan of forming a military alliance against Ethiopia.
He also alleged that the TPLF is sending Tigrayan youth to fight in Sudan on behalf of forces loyal to Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.
Eritrea and Sudan have been building political and military ties over the past few years, especially after Eritrea’s relations with Ethiopia deteriorated over Ethiopia’s claim of access to the Red Sea.

Hey Ethiopia! This is it! You’re done! I just had a lengthy talk with my long time homie Al-Toweel Isu and I asked him what transpired at this meeting. He told me he and Burhan have come up with the ultimate and finishing touch of a coordinated plan to enter Addis/Finfinnee by August 1, 2026. He showed me the plan and I could see those Ethiopians with their low IQ score of 39 having any the military know-how to withstand Al-Toweel’s army with an IQ score of 189. Ethiopia! You’re toast!!! I heard that Abiy has fled the country and is now living in a dilapidated former factory building in Minnesota and Toronto being adored by bigots and connivers. Jula had already run away two weeks ago to be with his kin and kit in Rwanda. I’ve already told you he is Tutsi.
Hey Ittu Aba Farda, you are a mental case. No normal mind will write such idiotic sentences. Shame on you!
To the Editorial group of borkena.com, not all comments are worth posting. I think you failed on this one!
On the meeting of the two leaders nothing will be binding. We have seen it before and this one is just for public PR than anything. Sudan, Eritrea or Ethiopia do not need any war. Peace among the nations is what is needed. Instead of beating the drum of war, it is better to reconcile differences and live in peace. Any other attempt will aggravate the situation in each country and lead them to hunger and mass displacement. Stop this madness and find a way out for your predicaments without fighting!
My one wonder is how Eritreans could tolerate a bully and a bigot as their leader for 33 years. Isaias has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is a total failure as a leader. He decimated the prospects of two generations of Eritreans, consigning many to exile and military camps, as mercenaries to Yemen and Saudi for cash, as hustlers and smugglers to Democratic Congo, South Sudan, Rwanda, Uganda, Somalia and Djibouti. He is at war at any given time, or preparing for one, or retreating from one. How many are the maimed, the dislocated, the dead! One could only conclude Isaias as being clinically deranged. He has wasted so many opportunities. I believe Isaias is the only leader in the world who could not coexist with his neighbors, could not understand his own geographic, military, demographic, economic limitations to want to forge cooperation with his neighbors in the advancement of the welfare of his people. Even his protege, the late-Meles Zenawi, had had enough of Isaias’s petulance to have been compelled to devise a “no-peace, no-war” strategy to keep him on a short leash and corralled into a political/economic wasteland for 20 long years (gaining Isaias “the North Korea of the Horn” appellation).
He was offered another chance in 2010 with Abiy’s offer of peace. Eritrea was once again connected to the world community. Ethiopian Airlines provided a breathing space to Eritreans who could afford to fly in and out. Eritreans could once again enjoy teff, coffee, medicine, etc. Guess what? Isaias wanted to haul in illegal items from near and far on board the airline. He was told to stop and a huge consignment was quarantined at Addis Cargo. Guess what? Isaias, true to character, cried foul and, and appropriated ~$16millions in Ethiopian account in Asmara and unilaterally severed all ties. See that? See a bully? It is his way or none at all. In other words, a blind leader leading his people to the edge of the precipice not once, not twice, not thrice, … for 33 long years. He is preparing for another war as I write this. Now with Sudan’s Burhan, now training blind Amhara Fano, deaf Oromo Shene, whoever, and always with Egypt to destabilize Ethiopia. This has been Isaias’s permanent posture. And one catastrophe after another for Eritreans.
Ever wondered why Eritreans would continue to enable such a human being? May be he put a spell on them, a spell concocted in Sudan? What is even more perplexing is that those who have been cause to this generational disaster were privileged individuals (Dr. Bereket, Asmarom Legesse, etc) for whom Ethiopia provided opportunities rarely granted to many others. These were the ones that came up with a dumb but tactical “Ethiopia colonized Ethiopia” thesis. The Egyptian Boutros Ghali, then UN Chief and more than eager to serve Egypt’s interests, made sure the groundless demand was satisfied before he left office.
Often, I’ve wondered if Isaias was not sent to punish Eritrean ingratitude to Ethiopia. Think about this a minute: 33 years of exile, imprisonment, torture, death, impoverishment, bankrupt educational policy, unemployment, etc. and the demons of war exacting blood sacrifices. All that the picture above tells is this: Isaias is addicted to bloodletting and secrecy and desires to lead a desolate nation further into darkness because he is incapable of compromises and still views the world in terms of either/or. In other words, Eritrea is condemned to remain under a leader with a 19th century mindset in the 21st century.
This photo does not show the whole picture by cutting off the other part knees down. You should have seen the shoes of both Isu and Burhan. They are blinding shiny. My other homeboy Yemane had sent me the whole picture and video with Debre shining his sugar daddy Burhan shoes and Rastaman wannabe from Wallagaa at Isu’s shoes. They made those shoes shinning like a mirror. The video also shows Debre giving presents to his bosom daddy Burhan 500 under the age of 14 young fighters. In return the video shows Burhan giving Debre 10 sacks of rice from his rats infested silos, a bag of sugar and a jerrycan of foul smelling rancid sesame oil. I’ve got the video right here in my hand.
Btw, both Isu and Burhan have invited me to be the witness when their indomitable armies march into Addis/Finfinnee on August 1, 2026 which I politely accepted. Ethiopia, with your IQ score of 39, you’re toast, gone, good bye, hasta luego, au revoir, arrivederci, ma-a salama…..
I heard somebody, I said somebody, saying two Africans. Who you calling Africans? Al-Toweel Isu and Burhan? Another word like that out of you, you wouldn’t know what has just hit you. You are now given a stern instruction to mention these two and their entire entourage as ‘Non-Africans’. They don’t share even an iota of DNA with Africans. Their IQ score tells it all at 189.
1) Who was the first one to play soccer on the continent of Africa? Eritrea
2) Who reinvented lasagna? Eritrea.
3) Who started the culture of having 3 meals a day? Eritrea.
4) Who was the first one to circumnavigate the entire shores Africa? Eritrea.
5) Who is the first one to phase out all fossil fuel(gasoline) burning vehicles? Eritrea.
The list goes on and on. Meanwhile, what have those Ethiopians with their IQ score of 39 been doing all this time, you may ask? The answer is nothing except they have been multiplying like worms. Just look at them. Amharas, Oromos and Tigres turning on each other like mortal enemies. They think they are more civilized when they open their blabber mouths with ‘Oromia out of Ethiopia’, summarily incriminating innocent citizens as ‘Land grabbing settlers’, ‘Oromummaa extremists’ and ‘I am the gold race and the rest of you are some rusty creatures’. On top of all these maladies they have demonic commies running around like rabid dogs among them since the late 1960’s. Nuff said from me for now.
