Toronto – Ethiopia Federal Police has reportedly arrested CEO of Ethiopian Petroleum Supply Enterprise, Ato Esmelealem Mihretu.
His arrest is said to be related to the oil procurement process and management of local oil supply storage, according to local news sources.
However, Ethiopian Federal police did not make a public announcement to the public. No information is provided as to where he is arrested.
According to sources, Esmelealem Mihretu was in his office on Monday when Federal Police members arrived and conducted a search.
It is unclear why exactly the CEO is in custody and why police did not want to make it public. Also, there is no information at this point if he appeared in court or not. Borkena will update readers as more information becomes available.
In a related development, on Tuesday the Ministry of Finance announced a stern message on the price hike of oil products. The ministry said it will take measures including confiscation against those who are selling oil at a price set by the government.

When he is released, he will somehow find ways to leave the country and apply for an entry visa. Then he will come out swinging on all these TV websites telling us the reason he was arrested. He will say he was arrested and tortured which rendered him unable to use his middle finger and flip the bird at the chief because he disagreed with the Navajo and Sami-Oromummaa leaders in Arat Kilo. You watch!!! Sheesh!! This Oromummaa bogeyman is everywhere, dude.
Why don’t you tell us the real reason for his arrest? It is clear you have inside information as a top Abiye cadre.
Is this true?
‘The ministry said it will take measures including confiscation against those who are selling oil at a price set by the government.’
If it is true it does not surprise me. It means they will confiscate your gas station even you sell gasoline at prices set by the government. Like I said I won’t be surprised because sometimes the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing over there. But I don’t think the overqualified Finance Minister Ahmed Shide will allow that. May be it was a typo to say ‘confiscation against those who are NOT selling at a price set by the government’. I’m sure our dear editors of this esteemed website will sort that out for us.
Dear Editors,
I think some eyal-al-souqs are trying to desecrate your esteemed website. You may need to give them your stare down. They do not belong here. They are well below your station. They should stay on other sites which seem they had taken over completely. Out of here! Dégage!!!
