Toronto – After his interview with Aljazeera which became viral and a talking point among Ethiopians on social media and beyond, Getachew Reda appeared at NBC Ethiopia.
In part one of this interview, he revealed unheard of details about the war that TPLF started in 2020.
“Before the war Abiy told TPLF leaders that Shabiya [Eritrea] would take advantage of it and that he could not stop them,” he said.
Battlefield details are revealed. According to Getachew, there was a moment in the course of the battle when “Tigray Defense Force” engaged Eritrean Forces on its own, and that there were heavy casualties on the part of Eritrean troops.
He alleges that there was systemic level planning on the part of Eritrea to undertake “genocide” in Tigray. He cited a situation where he pulled an injection syringe from the pocket of a dead Eritrean soldier. He found out later, he said, it was a birth control soldiers inject women they raped, in Tigray. The study conducted during his interim administration reportedly revealed that Eritrean troops committed 76 percent of rape in the region during the war.
He also said that he was meeting with Yemane, top Erirean government official – apparently after the war.
