Toronto – Ethiopian Defense Forces is making claims that it has killed 62 “enemy forces” and wounded 28 others.

A news release shared on the social media page of the Federal Defense Force attributed it to the Eastern Command which has long been deployed in the Gojjam area of the Amhara region of Ethiopia.

It claimed that it had killed about 41 in an operation in Konji Kolela district, Shbelle Kebelew of the North Gojam zone and wounded three others.

The news release listed the names of seven Fano leaders allegedly killed in the operation against “extremists” in Gojjam and South Gondar area.

Anteneh Shambel (group leader)
Yeshiwas Mitiku
Getabil Yifredew
Alebachew Biazen
Tewachew Anteneh
Tadesse Seme
Tadele Getaneh

The defense force alleges what it calls “enemy forces” were working on a mission they were given from the enemy of Ethiopians.

In another operation in West Gojjam zone Dega Damot district, Arefa Kebele, 21 were killed and 25 others wounded. The figure the defense force shared does not seem to tally with the figure indicated in the news release title.

In North Gojjam, it said it captured three “key” members of the “extremist” group.  They are identified as Tizazu Alemneh Akmew, Gedfew Worku, and  Amare Gedifew. It added that “they were captured with their firearms.”

The defense forces employed the expression “enemy forces” and “extremists” in an apparent effort to avoid calling the names of the rebel groups operating in the Amhara region – Fano forces.

The Amhara Fano National Force (AFNF) has not yet remarked on the claims of the Defense force.  The Defense force new claim came just a day after Fano forces announced that they have killed over 100 government soldiers and captured 20 others in the South Gondar zone of the Amhara region – part of an area where the defense force claimed to have made a military gain after an operation on Tuesday.

On the other hand, Arega Kebede, head of the Amhara regional state, yesterday gave a testimonial that the Defense Force has paid immense sacrifice in the Gojjam area of the region.

For nearly two years, the Defense Force has been claiming that “it gave a blow to the extremist forces and the remaining operation is a matter of clearing up areas.”   Over the past few weeks, Fano forces have claimed control of at least 16 new districts in the North Wollo area of the Amhara region.

  1. Some one should keep the tally of ENDF soldiers and rebels killed in both Amhara and Oromia regions. Then some day your numbers will add up to be more than the entire population of the country itself. Watch it now! Fano and Shene will tell us how many ‘Oromo’ soldiers they have killed in Amhara region and Shene will cook up even a larger number of Amhara soldiers it killed in Oromia region. Boy, bigots and connivers will get thrilled by the numbers. Just keep your tallies up-to-date. Then you will say to yourself ‘Wait a minute! My total is way more than the entire population of the country’. You know why? Because you were missing and did not pay attention when genocide was/is being committed. At one previous national census, a sharp eye discovered that close 2.5 million Amharas were missing in the count. You know why? Because the late Prime Minister and his inner circle just took all out to some secret underground gas chambers and incinerators and killed them. I got the evidence right here in my hand where a photo shows the late Prime Minister and his bosom buddies turning the gas faucets on. That was discovered during the 2007 census. There were also 6.5 million Oromos missing in the 1994 census because they were massacred in the same manner by the same individuals. Them Amharas and Oromos! The more you kill them the larger they get in numbers. Them two rascals!!!!
