Toronto – Amhara Fano National Force (AFNF) officially reports its forces operating in East Amhara killed over 470 government forces in just two days.

175 others are reportedly captured. Some of them were captured while wounded.

AFNF has announced that “Arbegna Adem Ali” unit of the Fano division operating in the area has achieved grand victories.

The story emerged first on Wednesday with video footage that became viral. Hundreds of Ethiopian government soldiers were seen as captives. There is a moment in the footage whereby a fano fighter approaches what appears to be a dead body of a man in defense force uniform – apparently to prepare it for burial.

On Wednesday, it was reported that 137 government soldiers including ruling party officials in the Beklo Manekia district, where the operation took place, were killed.

However, the official report from AFNF released on Thursday indicates that the number of government soldiers killed in the Lasta operation rose to 470.

Fano continued its operation in many locations in Lasta after the battle in the Beklo Manekia area, according to disclosure from AFNF.

It has also reported seizure of a considerably high number of firearms and military vehicles.

52,600 machine gun ammunition,  6 mortars, 6 dshk, 438 AK 47 rifles, 14 machine guns, 9 snipers, 37 mortar shells, 148 F1 hand grenade, 9  military radio devices, a sino truck and a military camion are seized, according to AFNF news release.

The latest viral video footage circulating on social media purportedly shows a collection of the above mentioned seized items.

Fano forces did not specify if there were casualties on their part.

Estaysh, Hamusi, Kebero Meda, Debot and Deilb towns are reportedly under the control of Fano forces.

There is anticipation that Fano forces could advance further to control Woldia city further east. Sources reported that ruling party authorities in Wolida have already fled the city, heading to Chifra. However, this story is not confirmed.

The Ethiopian Defense Force has not remarked on the latest claims and/or the viral video footage highly circulating on social media.

It has been claiming, for a long time, that “Fano forces are no longer in a position to stand their ground and fight.”

  1. Is this supposed to be good news? Is one brother killing one of his brothers something to cheer about? If this story is verifiably true we get joy out of it, that shows how monstrous we have come to be. These victims could be Amharas, Oromos and from anyone of the more than 80 ethnic groups of Ethiopians. In fact it is the hard truth is those who are easy targets for the armed groups in the Amhara region have been Amharas themselves. The same goes in Oromia region where most of those killed or wounded have been low level Oromo civil servants. Amharas killing Amharas and Oromos killing Oromos. It is so tragic and there shouldn’t be any reason to celebrate about it. Those of you who extol and are enjoying such horrific stories, shame on you! Damn, damn, damn you bunch of sellout bigots and connivers!!!!

  2. The gallant TDF forces routed out the Oromo dominated army in Tigray and pushed into the south upto the vicinity of Finfine (Addis Ababa). Although reorganized with the advice and instruction of former derg officers, the government army has not been effective against the Amhara Fano forces and is surrendering in the battle fields. The government is accusing Tigray and Eritrea to cover up its losses and defeats. Abiy Ahmed was ill advised by his OLF sympathetic advisers and decided to send his forces into the Amhara region according to well placed Tigray sources.

  3. Blah blah blah is it west Tigray or northwest Amhara? Is it TPLF or Prosperity Party who created this war? Is it Oromo or is it Tigrayan government mafia that’s been marginalizing Amhara for 30+ years? Borkena has been publishing that two face snake propaganda crap since FANO choose to stay armed to defend Amhara people & territory from TDF/TPLF, OLA, not from “Abiy Ahmed” ENDF/PP.
