Iran-Israel Conflict

Toronto – Iran and Israel continue to exchange missiles as the conflict enters its second week. According to Iranian sources, Iran’s Defense Force fired ballistic missiles in the early hours of Saturday targeting different locations in Israel.
The latest attack came in the wake of Israel’s attack targeting the North Western Part of Tigray.
Israel launches attacks on northwestern Iran as Iran fires more drones towards Israel on day nine of the conflict.
Israel reported that Iran has fired about 450 missiles and over 400 drones since the start of the war, according to Al Jazeera but the number of missiles and air strikes it conducted is unspecified.
Israel claims that “…5-10 percent of those missiles get through its defence systems, and that it allows some of them through deliberately. That’s because they know they’re going to fall on open ground, so they don’t want to waste interceptor weapons on them,” as cited in Al Jazeera report. However, there have been multiple confirmed reports indicating that Israel’s three-tier Israeli air defense systems were bypassed by Iranian missiles.
Video footage purportedly showing Iranian strikes targeting Israel in cities like Tel Aviv and Haifa shows some buildings in flames.
It is confirmed that at least 25 people have been killed and hundreds wounded in Israel since the start of the conflict. The number of casualties is higher on the side of Iran. At least 400 people are killed and well over 3,000 people wounded in Iran. including in the capital Tehran.
According to Press TV, Helena Gholami, Iranian teenager and Karate athlete, is among those killed in the Israeli attacks.
Iran has been asserting that the Israeli attack has to stop first to pursue the diplomatic effort for negotiation on the nuclear program. However, new reports on Saturday indicated that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has announced Iran’s readiness for negotiation in ways that align with established international norms.
In a related development, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has designated three successors. His son Mojtaba is not in the list of successor. His decision seems to be informed by possible Israeli assassination. U.S. President Donald Trump, who is speculated to join Israel in the attack against Iran, earlier this week said “we know where he is hiding.”
There are fears that the Iran-Israel conflict could escalate to wider regional conflict, perhaps beyond. However, there appears to be no sign of it except that Russia is warning against U.S. involvement.
