ADDIS ABABA – (BORKENA) – A senior leadership team member of the Southern Zone of Tigray Region was shot dead yesterday, sources said.
Tikvah disclosed here quoting its sources from Regional Capital, Mekele that the senior official, Samson Teferi, was gunned down at 9:30 pm on September 12, 2023.
The news source said that Samson Teferi served the Region as Mayor of Maichew Town for three years since October 2020.
The senior official reportedly worked as Head of Social Affairs Office in the Southern Zone of Tigray Region until he was assassinated. According to available information, Samson worked in government offices in the Region at various positions.
Sources indicated that the suspect who allegedly killed the official is at large.
Tikvah Ethiopia has reported that there is a serious security problem in the various towns of that Region.
Information coming out of Tigray Region indicates that there is a row between the veteran party members of Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) and the Interim Government of the Region.
President of the Interim Administration of the Region, Getachew Reda said in a press briefing he gave recently that, “there is a body that puts pressure in an organised manner against the Interim Administration not to extend its structure to all Zones and Woredas”.
Getachew said that there are Weredas that have not yet been embraced by the Interim Administration. As these Weirdos are not willing to use the new seal, they have been obstructing the structure process of the Interim Administration, Voice of America, the Amharic service quoted Getachew days back as saying.

g) Refusal to accept reality will NEVER bring back the World Renowned BEAUTIFUL ETHIOPIA.
h) What ever changes Ethiopia, it is ONLY AND ONLY the ACT of INDIGENOUS INDIVIDUALS instigating the Ethiopian
People onto the HISTORICAL CRIMINAL DIRECTION.
I) It is historical crime perpetrated by indigenous individuals for their private benefit and mini glory.
j) And as usual, the phenomenon that ENTIRE PEOPLE OF A NATION ARE LED TO DESTRUCTION BY A SINGLE

I’m not surprised by this killing. It is a matter of time such assassinations of government officials spread to other regions. It is already happening in Amhara and Oromia regions. It is a natural order of things when a despotically contained force let go after bloody conflicts. Many Central and South American countries can be cited as examples. Such acts should not be condoned as it encourages anarchy which that country should avoid by all peaceful means necessary.
