It has been more than eight months since the Pretoria agreement ended the deadly two years war between Ethiopian government and the TPLF on condition that, ideally, the latter was to disarm and resort to war.
The government of Eritrea became a party to the war following TPLF provocation, in what was then believed to be an effort to internationalize the war, although it was not a party during the African Union led negotiation to end the war that took place in South Africa.
Yesterday, a new video was published on Youtube channel in which Ethiopian and Eritrean Military commanders were reflecting on the Pretoria agreement and what led to it.
The commanders from both countries reflected the view that the TPLF was a problem to peace and the hope that TPLF’s disarmament would lead to peace for both countries.
There was also a view from Ethiopian military commanders that Eritrean troops and Eritrea proved to be reliable allies in difficult times. The empathy and compassion from Eritrean troops towards Ethiopian troops who were unexpectedly attacked by the TPLF was noted.
The video shared below emerged at a time when local sources (Anchor Media is one of them) are reporting intensive military activity by Ethiopian forces near the Wolkait border.
There has also been a report that the TPLF did not disarm meaningfully – in the spirit of the Pretoria agreement. And that it is also said to be making military moves in the Wolkait area but no other sources have covered it.
The Ethiopian government did not explain why it had to deploy a huge portion of the Defense Force along the Wolkait. The Eritrean government did not remark on reported developments in the area either.
The situation is fostering speculation about possible war in the region. What is your take? Share it in the comment section.

Here is the way I look at it in regards to Eritrea and Ethiopia. For starters, all of us with no exception should accept the fact that since 1993 Eritrea is UN recognized sovereign state. There should not be any blinking at that fact. We can disagree with this or that issue but it’s sovereignty with borders and citizenship is all etched in stone. Now, what does that mean? It means that whoever is the ruler has the responsibility to defend its territory and people from hostile foreign forces. It was intently watching the war of words between Addis/Finfine and Mekele when all of a sudden missiles started raining over its skies in November 20, 2020. The missiles were launched from inside Tigray by the orders of the leaders of the TPLF. Are you with me so far? We can expect that innocent civilians were killed after the missiles landed on top of them at their work places. More missiles also rained on civilian airports in Bahr Dar and other nearby places that resulted in deaths of innocent civilians. So what would you do if you were rulers of a sovereign country when someone in a nearby region hurls a salvo of deadly missiles? Do you just sit back and do nothing? No! You have the right to defend your territory and people including going all the way to the source to nip it out. Eritrea had and still has the responsibility to defend itself just like all of its neighbors and every sovereign state in the entire world. What happened during their time inside Tigray is a different topic and I am not dwelling on that. But one can not help to ask ‘What were the leaders of the TPLF were thinking when they decided to open unprovoked war on a neighboring nation? What was the matter with them? Well, well, well! It ain’t the first time that happened. They are alone in that regards. Hitler had done it. Tojo had blundered with it. Mussolini washed his hands in blood with it until he got caught and died squealing like a pig hung upside down. So most commies and their despot byproducts have that in their DNA and twisted conscience. I rest my case!!!

It is Eritrean leader who has profited from this war
Thanks to the corrupt and incompetent TPLF political and military leadership, the Eritrean forces invaded and devastated Tigray. The intervention of the Eritrean forces in the war has been a game changer because the Tigray defense force (TDF) has not been able to stop them from crossing the border into Tigray. In their planning the TDF commanders who are said to be among the best ones in the world. focused on the Amhara and Abiy army and expected quick victory. The planned lightning attack was a success but the Eritrean intervention changed the game. The TDF mobilized almost a millions force but fed them to the Eritrean guns and forces which are battle hardened and superior.
